It's something I've been meaning to do for years. Fifteen years to be exact.

The picture is one I took of my puppy in 1992. It was her very first moment stepping in the sand and the surprised look on her face was priceless.

Whether it places or not, I don't care. (Well, alright, I care a little bit. ;) )

But as something I've always wanted to do, it feels good to finally do it.

How exciting!! Good luck!!! Any chance you can share the photo with us?

Good luck, Linda! And I second Lizzie's request - can you share the photo with us? We'd love to see it!

Good luck. I entered our state fair last year for the first time. I did okay. I have to start working on this years entries.

Thank you, guys!

It is a special picture and she was a special dog. It was always one of my favorite pictures but it was MIA for a long time. I found it a couple of years ago and have had it on my to-do list to reprint it, get it framed and enter it in this contest. I don't even have the negative, just the print.

It's more than just a little thing for me. It kind of symbolizes - and I know Amy will understand this - life and will after cancer. Having cancer (past tense) kind of forces you to do the things you want to do now; to take the time to smell the roses; to enjoy your life now. Photography is something I always wanted to study, get better at, take up as a real hobby, etc, and although I put it off for many years, I've finally made it to a place I've wanted to be, if that makes sense. Even though the picture itself is old, it's kind of a nice link to both my past and future and just "feels" right, like something I've just needed to do.

So cross that one off the list, LOL.

Of course I will share the photo here but I'd like to wait until the contest is over if nobody minds. It probably won't be earth shattering to anyone else, but to me, it has great meaning. I already have a nice spot for it on my freshly painted wall when the contest is over.

Good luck. Whether you come out first or not, there'll probably be a lot of people who enjoy your photo. Can't wait to see it. Is the puppy the same dog as below your message, the beautiful German Shepard?

Continued good health also.

Good luck!!! :goodvibes

I can't wait to hear how the contest went!

I got wrapped up in my trip soon after the contest and never re-posted, I'm sorry. I wanted to watermark the photo and someone has offered to do that for me so I'll try to get it done soon, I promise! I didn't win, but I did get to enter it, so I felt like I'd accomplished something. I'll probably enter it again somewhere, sometime. The framed picture is now up on my wall, and DH bought me a blue ribbon to hang on it (what a guy).

Funny story about the contest, though. Guess who did win a ribbon? My DS9! I helped him enter a picture of a flower he took and didn't the little bugger win the junior category? :thumbsup2 When we saw it we were high-fiving and such and the judge came over and we got to talk to him for a while. It was interesting to hear how he judged the pictures (against the other entries in same categories). I didn't ask about my picture but there were TONS of pet photos and at that point I was just glad for my son, he was so happy!

Oh yes, I forgot to say. Shortly after the contest, as I said, we went away. I got myself a cappucino and logged onto the internet from the Cove Cafe one morning to find that my picture was winning the Photo of the Week contest here on the PB, and it ultimately won the contest (MGM)!! Believe it or not, I was more happy about that than I think I would have been about the other contest, because I see what wonderful photos everyone has every week and to actually win one here made me very happy and proud! :cloud9:
