I kind of agree about not misrepresenting myself, but on the other hand his brother introduced me to the nurse as my friend's fiancee. I'm not sure why he did that, unless he felt that it would bring me respect that I wouldn't get as just one of his two best friends.

I"m talking a lay person..someone who cares and can be polite, and yet demanding if needed. Sounds like you will do. Any chance he has a health proxy?

Do you mean a professional advocate or a lay person? There is a social worker, but I'm going up tomorrow and as far as the hospital knows, I'm his fiancee (his best friend and brother introduced me that way even though they know differently....I am an ex-girlfriend...we dated for three years and have been friends for six.) I'm about ready to demand the things that I feel he needs.

No, he doesn't have a healthcare proxy (or a living will.) He's been trying to get me to write something every time I've been in that he's been awake but I have no idea what he wants me to write. He looks so frustrated when I can't figure it out.
