My family and I will be camping at Fort Wilderness the 1st week in October. This is the first time taking our fifth wheel this far. I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a campground on I-95 between Jacksonville and Daytona Beach just for a one night stay.

Thanks for you input!

I have no idea if its still there, but we used to stay at beverly beach campground, right on the beach just north of daytona, very nice people and nice listening to the surf as you went to sleep

Last year my wife and I stayed at Kingsland KOA (right off the high way) it's in Kingsland GA. 400 yards from the florida line it may be a little farther north than you want to be but it's nice and clean and very easy to get to and great pull thru sites as well. Great for a quick over night stay! Good luck K.:thumbsup2

Google Faver Dykes SP near St. Augustine. It's about 1/2 mile off 95 and far enough from the noisy highway plus it's a nice place.

we've stayed at the koa in st augustine. It was nice. I was thinking of trying the stae park next time.

Thanks for all the recommendations! My DH is now talking about we might go I-75. Good thing we still have enough time to plan. :confused3

There is a KOA in Cordele, GA just off I-75. It was the better of the two places that I stayed at in '08.

I was surprised at how trusting they are at these campgrounds. I pulled into both after the office had closed. I filled out the information sheet with my CC number. In the morning I left the KOA grounds before the office opened in the morning. I hope people don't abuse the trust.

If you go 75 and are willing to stay in GA, there is a nice one called Eagle's Roost in Valdosta, GA. It's off exit 5, on the east side of I75. It's a very nice stop-over; we've stayed there 4 times on our trips back and forth to FW from North GA. Bear in mind, it's literally right off 75 so you do get a lot of highway noise...however if you're super tired (like we always are when we get there) you won't notice it. There are large pecan trees throughout the site so you might also be listening to pecans fall on your RV too. :)

The big plus to this place is that there are 2 RV dealerships with parts departments that are very close by, in case you need them. This past October we blew a tire while driving down (less than one hour from home) so it was nice to be able to get parts when we stopped to fix all the things that fell apart/off as a result of the blown tire.

The people that work there are super nice. It's really a nice place. It's about a 3 - 3 1/2 hour drive to FW from there.

+1 on the eagles roost. I always stop there on the way home from FW. But going to FW I only stop for fuel and continue on untill I am there.

When we travel to WDW from Tn. we stop at the KOA in Forsyth Ga. just beyond Atlanta or if we want to get a bit closer to FL. we stop at Southern Gates RV and Campground in Arabi Ga. the price was $23.00, they are very nice and it was handy off and on to the I-75.

I recommend Country Oaks just north of the GA-FL stateline, though I know it's a little north of your criteria. Nice facility for an overnight, @$30 per night, and it will leave you right at 3 hours from the Fort. Here are some reviews.

Another vote for Country Oaks. We stayed there in '08 and will probably do the same on our next trip to the Fort.

I have stayed at Flamingo Lake RV resort in Jacksonville. Easy access off of 95. Nice campground.

We have stayed at Flamingo Lake also and really like the place. We also take 295 south and bypass Jacksonville. We like the drive since the road is fairly new and it meets up with 95 missing all of that traffic congestion too.
