FYI - 12/12/03 - Drove I-77 from just South of the NC/VA line, up to I-81, and I-81 all the way to Harrisburg, PA (then we ducked off on I-78 towards Allentown, PA).
No slowdowns or major construction problems anywhere this trip. Harrisburg, PA is of course perpetually having road work it seems, but no delays or stops for this ride, in either direction.
Note(s): I-77 further down NC (towards Charlotte) is still hit or miss, depending on when you drive and if road work is scheduled.
Also, gas prices in MD and WV are @ $.15 per gallon (or more) higher than prices at the first few exits in VA. VA prices are cheaper than NC, but the difference varies on where you stop.
(I'll post an update for gas prices and road conditions the weekend after Christmas, if there are changes.)
If you follow this driving route all the way to WDW, SC gas is less than NC, GA is less than SC, but when you get to FL, the sky's the limit.....
