How bad is the construction going on? We're flying in to Tampa, have to visit DMIL first. Will it take us forever to get to Disney? Give it to me straight, I can take it, I'm from Michigan, nuff said...~:)~

There is quite a bit of construction. They are adding extra lanes and new bridges. Sometimes there are backups. Just allow some extra time and you will be fine.

It's not bad at all. We flew into Tampa about a month ago. It's nothing like Ohio construction. There are still two lanes open on both sides. Traffic never slowed at all. The only problem is if you go off on an exit ramp, it's a little hard to get back on the interstate.

Sometimes they close off lanes and this is during daylight or overnight hours. We have been caught in it more than once.

Thanks for the replys! Anybody else have recent experiences, good or bad?~:)~

We had no delays at all driving from Orlando to Tampa recently (flew into Orlando and out of Tampa). We left WDW about 6:00 p.m. on a Thursday and had no delays at all on our way to Tampa. It looked like traffic in the opposite direction was flowing freely as well.

Maybe we got lucky, but it wasn't bad at all for us.

We were on I-4 (between I-75 and WDW) on the morning of 1/31 (Monday - 9:30 am) and the afternoon of 2/3 (Thursday - 12:00 pm). We never had to deal with any backups or lane closures.

I know it's worse on I-4 between I-75 and the Tampa airport, and we have been stuck in traffic there more than once, but the majority of I-4 was fine.
