Chapter 4: Let's go to space!
We got up nice and early, showered, ate breakfast and headed down to the lobby!
The hotel got a cab to take us to the car rental place just by the MK area car entrance!
Look how excited Tally is to get the car!
Here was our wonderful ride!
We were off! We headed straight for Kennedy Space Center, which took about an hour?
The last time we visited here was in 2009 when we got to watch a Shuttle Launch! Since then lots of new stuff had been added so I was very excited! I definitely am such a space geek!
NASA!
We headed straight for the brand new exhibit Atlantis!
It starts with a movie in which you stand in a giant room for! There are screens in front, above and to the side of you! Finally at the end of the movie the huge screen in front lifts and you are surprised with this beauty!
It was huge! Look at the size of me in comparison!
There was a mock up cockpit which obviously I had to try! Who thinks I would make a good astronaut? (Not with my fear of flying!)
Me and Tally then got to crawl around in a mock up space station! It was small!!
You had to follow a designated path around, little did we know we had to crawl through a glass tube with nothing underneath it that was like 3 floors up! It was a very peculiar feeling!
To get downstairs there was two options: 1. The normal ramps to walk down or 2. A SLIDE!! The rest of my boring family took the normal route and walked down but I took the slide!
IT WAS FAST! I shot off the end with a running finish!
Here is yours truly on a space toilet!
There is a camera in the toilet and a monitor above your head which is what astronauts have to use to pee in space! As gravity doesnt do its thing you need to learn how to aim and control! Ew.
We then went on a Space simulator! I thought it was going to be just like mission space but I was very surprised! I loved it! It was wonderful! You were in a big space shuttle and it was very educational!
The main part of Kennedy Space Center is the bus tour so thats where we headed next! It takes you about 20 minutes to get to your first destination!
You pass the famous NASA building where they assemble and keep the shuttles till launch!
First stop is the observatory which gives you a birds eye view of the different launch pads around the center! We even got to see the rocket that was due to launch two days from then!
You then hop on another bus which takes you to the second stop! You experience what its like to be in mission control at the launch of a mission! Then you get to see another shuttle!!
I also got to touch a bit of the moon!!
Quick pit stop for lunch where I got a pepperoni pizza!
Tally got cheese pizza but it tasted like pepperoni (I thought she was exaggerating, but I tried it and it really did?!). She doesnt like pepperoni so she didnt really eat it!
We then hopped back on the bus to the main area of KSC.
I then convinced my family to go listen to an Astronaut talk which was AMAZING! It was only supposed to be 20 minutes but he spoke for over an hour!
Our astronaut was Jack Lousma! He was part of the Skylab program which sounds amazing! Seriously Google this man! He was so cool!
We then headed out of KSC and over to the outlets to do some shopping!
I only bought two things
.one pair of shorts and a top from the Disney outlet! Love that place, so many bargains!
We then went to one of my favourite restaurants of all time, called Maggianos. I CRAVE the pasta from here all the time! My dad has tried so many times to create it for me and he has finally cracked it!
Here is what I always get: Rigatoni D.
Such a big portion, but I ate it all
and some of Tallys.
It was time to head back onto Disney property (PHEW) and off to bed! We had a first Disney park day tomorrow after all! WOOPEEE!
Continued in next post!
