If I decided to allow my DH and DS to follow through with their traitorous threat of going to Universal what would be the best way to go about that? I see there is a ticket for one day, both parks, including a Mears shuttle. OR there is a ticket for 2 days without a shuttle. I am not a big fan of rental cars, but I might consider it just this once.

So do we need 2 days to see Universal properly? Should we drive a rental car, take a taxi, or do the Mears shuttle thing? We will be staying at AKV, NOT Universal so we won't have any sort of front of the line access. We will also attempt this little escapade ONLY if DH takes 2 weeks off. But since I am climbing the walls waiting for vacation bid I thought I might hash this out.

IMO the Studios is only a 1/4 day park. The Mummy, The Simpsons, perhaps Men in Black and the Terminator, thats about it.

Now IOA, that has some beautiful things to see, and some great rides.

Depending on the time of year, you could probably do both parks in one day with careful planning.

August. We are always in Orlando in August.

The 7 day, 2 park ticket is $95 so maybe that's the thing to get. The 2 day ticket is $120.

DH wants to go see Universal. DS will be 13 so he would probably appreciate Universal more than he would have when he was younger. None of us have ever been before.

In talking with DH at dinner he still hasn't made a firm decision on taking his vacation all in a big block. It partly depends on what weeks are left when it is time for him to bid.

I agree with Universal Studios not having a lot, but if you're going during a busier season, crowds can be heavy and off-peak, the parks tend to close early, and this creates a problem when trying to do both parks in one day.

We were there in September 2 years ago and we took a friend and her boyfriend there and the parks closed early and we finished Universal and only 1/4 of Islands of Adventure. There weren't really any long lines, it was the hours that killed us.
