Hypothetical.... if you do a VIP tour do you need more than 3 days?

I’m going to suggest if you’re really have your heart set on staying at the Disneyland hotel, that you really think about booking just a standard room and requesting two queen beds and a daybed for your daughter. The daybed is likely to be more comfortable than the pull out sofa in the one bedroom suite.

If you have a dream agent book you they could also put in the request for you.

It would save you quite a bit while keeping you onsite. You could also potentially look at the grand Californian but rooms that sleep five are much harder to come by there.
We had really looked at getting just a single room and it would cost the park stay actually in 1/2 even if we did it at GCH -- which we really liked the park entrance we had planned also renting a cabana at DLH 1 day if we stay at the CGH so the kids could do the other pool for a day.

The only reason we arent doing a single room is we were hoping to have a little privacy for my husband and I -- but then we were also thinking our 14 yr old would want some....even if he said he was totally fine being all in the same room. This is something I am way over thinking TBH my husband & I will have time alone... our oldest is already planning on bringing his sister to do things by themselves in the park. I also am planning a few meals & things just us. It sounds stupid but I almost feel like I need others to 'cosign' this is a good idea vs just doing the 1 bd family suite.

If you do grand Californian be aware that they might need to share a bed. You’re much more likely to get a daybed and 2 Queens at Disneyland Hotel. I don’t know if that matters or not, but keep that in mind.

If they are already going to spend some time in the park together, absolutely book a single room at one of the resorts. If that daybed is important, make sure you request it but know it’s not guaranteed.

You also could price club level. It’s probably cheaper than the one bedroom suite. Gives the kids a place to hang out plus food and drinks and an amazing fireworks view from the club (and they will work really hard to get you that day bed)

So I really loved the idea of doing the concierge level at the GCH I had heard mixed thing about the DL but wasnt sure if people might of been maybe just nitpicking. For the 1bd suite family suite at DLH I got it for $6400 so I am not sure if I get Concierge cheaper for that.

I love Disneyland hotel club level when I stayed last year. Robert was awesome.

Is that price with tickets?

Also, do you mind sharing your dates?

We have reservations August 7-12 but we are 'kind of' flexible we really could go any time between August 2-13. That is the last time we can fit it in when summer things end & school starts. I am not going to like the idea of dealing with the super hot weather had me considering trying to price out a November/December vacation LOL But I guess then we wouldnt be really needing that cabana a the pool!

I wish that included the tickets! I think the 5 day park hooper/genie+ with the free day from get away today was $2473

With 2 adults and 2 kids you don’t need a suite. You can get a standard room at either GCH or DLH. It will have 2 beds and a couch that turns into a bed. It just depends on the money you want to spend. GCH is closer. DLH is the classic. You could also do a split stay if you wanted to experience them both. I wouldn’t worry about privacy. You can work it out if you want to.

We have never used Genie+ and manage to not spend all our time line and ride all the rides.

I would drop the LA day. It’s just not worth it in my opinion. You could do a beach day in Orange County if that is important to you. You also could just do a pool day and visit the beaches some other time.

premium view club level room at Disneyland Hotel would be $5493.15 for August 7 through the 12th

A standard room at Disneyland Hotel would be $3384.81

A standard room at GCH for the same dates would be $4491.63

Honestly, I would consider doing a November December trip. The castle is so beautiful done up in those icicle lights. They have so many fun Christmas events.

Everyone talks about "the walk" from DLH like its uphill both ways. It's 10 mins on flat ground. It's 17 mins from the Tomorrowland Monorail station to the hotel (I timed it when the train was down). My knees are old and tired and it's a non issue. VIP tours are great, but it is a fast paced day. Enjoy a nice relaxed 5 day stay!

I was born in California and moved when I was just shy of five. We lived in Southern California and had season passes. One of my first memories is actually seeing the Chip and Dale decorating the Christmas tree cartoon & going to Disneyland on Christmas. It also might be why I completely fell in love with Chip and Dale. I will fight(ok maybe not) someone when they try to tell me Recuse Rangers wasn’t amazing lol

In August heat that walk can feel brutal and it’s basically through a construction site these days.

I told my husband yesterday we needed planned breaks at the hotel from 1-6 because of the heat… and as I said it, I was like what am I doing? :-/ my mom was born and raised in California and I told her today I was like maybe it won’t be so hot she’s like no it’s going to be very hot.

I know that crowds can be really intense I’ve heard of November and December but I imagine the weather is way better. I was playing around with dates and thinking well maybe I could even go Christmas through New Year!

Imagine that might ruin some of my pool plans but tbh no one’s gonna cry if they don’t get to spend all day in the pool either.

Just be aware that Christmas through New Year’s is going to be extremely crowded and hotels are going to be at a premium. If you can go either before or after you will save yourself a lot of headaches and money

So one month a year its brutal 10 min walk? There's construction for the first 100 feet or so by the hotel where the AMC theaters were, the rest is through downtown disney. Was there a month ago, didn't see any other construction. Will be there again in a week, I'll check to see if the walk through Downtown Disney form the hotel is a construction site :)

The OP is planning on going in August so that’s why it matters.

I just was playing around on Disneyland reservations and they have December 31st - January 4/5th starting at $492 DLH & $642 GCH I actually had to double take because I thought I had messed something up!

So, if you end up booking onsite, book 5 people. The four of you and a phantom child to guarantee two beds and a daybed. So 3 sleeping surfaces

If you can spring 5 days, do that. You're going to be tired in the heat and want the mid-day break at the pool. Will it be cheaper to get two connecting rooms rather than a suite?

This thread is so dense I have only skimmed so take this with a grain of salt. I think you can’t go wrong with either plan (3 days w/ VIP tour or 5 days w/o). I will just say that for a big splurge I have treated myself and family/friends to a VIP tour once each at DL and WDW, and each time it was an amazing experience. Not to be underestimated. On the other hand, having a relaxing visit to DL is also amazing. I would be inclined to go with the 3-day/VIP tour plan but can see the appeal of having some extra pool/relaxation time.

In short, either way you will have a great time!

So it’s actually cheaper to get the 1 bedroom family suite surprisingly! It came out to $6400 that we’re booked out right now for 5 nights
