I might have a conference 11/10 - 11/13 at the Hyatt Regency Orange County. Does anyone have any feedback on this hotel? The conference rate is $119/nt.

Thinking about bringing DW and DD along for the trip - to go to DLand since we've never been. Would the Hyatt Regency be good to stay at after the conference or shouls we switch to a Disney resort?

Any other tips on the time of the year I'll be out there would be appreciated.

By the way, we're headed for WDW for our regular vacation the first week of Dec.

Thanks

The Hyatt is a very nice hotel and it is within walking distance of the Disneyland parks (a long walk, but you can do it). They also have a shuttle. It's a typical business hotel and certainly close enough to keep staying there for the "fun" part of your trip if you don't want to move to an onsite hotel. :)

November is a great time to visit, be prepared for cool weather (typical highs in the 60s to maybe 70) and lows in the 40s - 50s at night. The parks should not be too crowded and hours will be shorter during the week.

Have fun! :)

We have stayed at the Hyatt twice. Our most recent visit being about a month ago. Both times I didn't care for the hotel. The only reason is the rooms were not as clean as I would have liked. They have a beautiful lobby, so I was surprised that the rooms seemed run down. The parking situation has changed at this hotel, and is no longer in the front, it's in the back due to construction. A little further walk to your room, depending on which tower you are in. The main pool was closed, I'm not sure why, we were too busy enjoying the parks. As far as walking to the parks, my DD's are 8 and 3, so I think it would be much too far for them. Of course there is a shuttle.

The thing I did like about this hotel was there is a Target right across the street. Very convienent for any forgotten last minute items.

Depending on what rates I can get always determines where I stay. If this is a good rate for that time, I wouldn't pass it up.

I agree with WebmasterMichelle. Expect some cooler temps. especially in the evenings. I know we live in Sunny, Southern California, but you would be surprised how chilly it gets. Have a great time.

Play around with Priceline on this one. We just scored 10/11-10/15 for $40/night. I bid Fri/Sat and Sun/Mon separately and won bids at the same rate.

People with Priceline reservations have had very good success in negotiating upgrades to suites with the front desk staff at check-in. From the history I have seen, the front desk is empowered to do a lot for incremental revenue.

Tons more restaurant options in this area compared with the hotels surrounding the Resort.

We too scored the Hyatt on Priceline for $42/night. We requested 3 rooms for 8 nights (big family trip). I have 2 questions for anyone who's familiar with the hotel:

* Has the construction been completed on the hotel yet? We're arriving on Sept 21 and would like to stay at a hotel (for once!) when it isn't undergoing renos.

* What's the pool like at the Hyatt Alicante? We're playing at DL for 5 days but would like to spend 2 days by the pool. Our kids love the water! Is there a shallow area for small children?

Thanks in advance for your help!

We also booked 3 nights for $40/night through Priceline. Just curious how easy is it to negotiate an upgrade to a suite and approximately how much does such an upgrade cost. Thanks. :)
