Just wondering if anyone has stayed here recently? We're planning our 1st Universal trip and are thinking of staying at this property and would love some input! Do they have free parking? Can you walk to the Univeral resorts from here? We have friends staying at HRH and would love to visit them one day!

If your talking about the one across from Universal then yes I've stayed there several times. There's another Hyatt Place about 4-5 minutes south closer to the southern end of international Drive. The one close to Universal is on the other side of Kirkman rd,which is a very, very busy street to cross but if you wanted to cross it to walk to the parks I would say it can be done.Parking is free and it's a very nice hotel with comfortable rooms and free breakfast,my only negative is that the breakfast area is too small.

Thanks so much for your reply! I know there is a Holiday Inn close to Universal also. Are you familiar with this Holiday Inn? I'm wondering if the Hyatt or the Holiday Inn is closer to Universal? Also if the Holiday Inn would be easier access versus walking across that busy street?

Never stayed at the Holiday Inn but did eat at the TGI Fridays that's basically attached to the Holiday Inn,just out of curiosity I walked from the Friday's through the hallway that leads to the hotel and I remember that it had an old smell. The HI and HP are basically next to each other on the other side of Kirkman rd from Universal so you still would need to cross the street. There's also a Cracker Barrel next door to the Hyatt Place.

Thanks for the reply! I have read that the HI is undergoing a major renovation that's due to be completed by this fall so hopefully some of those old smell problems will be resolved! I think we are going to probably end up staying at that HI because it is convenient to Universal and I got a great rate quoted for only $550.00 for 7 nights! I think that's a great rate....is it?

The rates vary by time of year and who you book the room with.I use Hotwire a lot which is where I booked the Hyatt Place and the rates I got where in the $45-$60/night range. The problem with Hotwire is you don't get the hotels name until after you book the room, you can however use betterbidding.com to help you get an idea of what hotel you will end up getting, for example the Hyatt Place might say 3 stars in the Universal/International Drive north area with free breakfast,pool,etc...Then you check the hotel list on betterbidding to see if it matches up.

I guess maybe it's a little too early for me to be looking on Hotwire for a November 20th -27th trip. I went to the site you recommended and put in our dates but nothing that even resembled Hyatt Place showed up. I did see a 3* but looking at the amenities and what the betterbidding site says it's probably the Best Western. Thanks for the tips on the Hyatt and if you have any more please feel free to post! I'm definitely open to any help I can get! :)
