We just got back from the WDW the last week of Aug. It was wonderful crowds were low and walked right on everything. we are already planning our trip for next year. This is were my question comes in... is there a web site that has statistics of hits from tropical storms/ hurricanes to FL and the time of year. I would love to book for the last week in Aug again as appossed to June(DH is a teacher can only go when school is out) but I am sure our luck will run out eventually. Also when does Hurricane season offically start? I know we can not predict these things a year in advance but many some facts will help us decide. Thanks of anyone can help.

I think hurricane season runs June through November so that's pretty much half the year. Last year, the ones that got Orlando were in early September. Last year was the worst as far as Orlando goes. Just Google national hurricane center. They have all the info, but they can predict all they want, Mother Nature does her own thing.

Hurricane season is June 1 - November 31. Yeah, it's a lot of fun  Last year we (central Florida) had a hurricane at the end of August (Charlie) and two in September (Frances and Jeanne). Ivan didn't really have any effect here, weather wise. September is the most active month (as evidenced by three storms, Maria, Nate, and Ophelia out in the Atlantic now). I saw a great interactive graphic several weeks ago with stats, and of course I can't find it now. If I run across it again I'll post it.

Glad you had a great time the other week!

As the others have mentioned, hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30. The height of hurricane season runs from the middle of August to the end of September.

But that doesn't mean that scheduling a trip to WDW during that time is a bad idea. Despite what happened last year, Orlando does not get hit very often.

To see some charts that show historical hurricane climatology, check out the National Hurricane Center's Tropical Cyclone Climatology page. About half way down the page are charts that show typical hurricane paths for each month.

Thanks for the help. Yeah We went this year the last week of Aug. and just hoped for the best! And we got the best week! I know last year was a bad year. Oh well we will have to see. Can not do much about it. Thanks again.

All those in Hurricane area be safe! November is coming!
