Hurricane: Prayers, PD, & Good Thoughts to MD, NJ, NY, VA, SC, & NC DISers

I'm in Central Jersey...

We had some felled trees and 10 inches of water in the basement... but overall ok. We didn't lose power... We may be landlocked though- the river at the end of our street overflowed and it's set to crest soon. We expected this though and it could have been a lot worse.

I hope everyone is doing well.

Well, that was one wild night. I am safe and glad to see people checking in here. I know there's thousands out there really struggling though. Power is down and things are a bit messy in a lot of areas. The winds are still at 45 mph, but things are dying down.

Please remember to stay off of the roads today. The Governor has asked this repeatedly due to trees being down, live electrical wires in roadways, and the flooding. The Potomac is expected to reach 19.2 feet shortly. Other areas are bracing themselves for further floods because the rivers are still rising. Bound Brook and Manville and other areas near the Raritan will have it pretty bad. There's boil water adversaries in many Northern NJ communities. There's large chunks of the boardwalks gone which is sad to see.

Here's a few photos from the past few hours...

Stay safe all!

Glad to you see you made it through the night, Nikki.

Did you have to crack open the emergency supply of Lox?

Glad to hear you are safe Nikki.....it was a wild day around here...things eased up around 9pm...we had a little wind this morning but it passed quickly. I have power, but many in the neighborhood don't...I hear multiple generators....the news said this morning that the amount of damage hasn't been seen yet, as the rivers will start to crest tonight...

Good Luck to you and stay safe.

Nikki, was that middle picture taken in Scotch Plains, NJ? That looks a lot like the route 22/78 ramp in a town very close to mine.

In live in ne PA. Only flooding we have is in our crawl space, which we expected. One of our sump pumps stopped working this morning and my dh tried to get out to home depot, but the road out of our community was blocked. In the last hour the wind gusts have gotten alot stronger.

From Warren County. Lots of rain last might. Some wind today (took down some large branches but no damage to any homes in our development). No flooding, power blipped off last night (only enough to effect our stove clock, apparently it's very sensitive). Staying home today and watching the local hummingbirds act completely nuts.

Unfortunately, my 91 year old dad lives in Bergen County and has a totally flooded basement. Send some good thoughts his way.

That grand central picture is amazing.

I am sending prayers to the east coast. I hope everyone is well.

Just saw this on Twitter (via @DarrenCriss :lovestruc) During the storm some people apparently decided to turn Times Square into a Slip and Slide.

The area that they're Slip and Sliding on is a pedestrian island so I guess it's not as bad as regular street, but it's still got to be pretty rough on the skin.

just checking in. Not too bad where we are in central MA:thumbsup2. looks like western mass got it worse. Never loss power or any thing, which is good with a 4yr.old. My parents who live 10 min away lost power around 10 am. It did come back on around 6pm. We did prepare for the worse, glad we didn't need too. Now I hope DH will fix the leak in the roof:confused3. Hope every one is safe with minimal damage.

We are doing well here in Western MA. There is some flooding but we have electricity and mimimal tree damage. The air is so crisp and fresh now, it actually feels good to open all the windows and let the "breeze" through. Thinking of all who fared worse than we did and hoping things are restored to normal for you all soon. :grouphug:

That is good news Erica. I was worried because of all the tornado damage still not repaired in your neck of the woods.

be safe

Just got back from a nice 10 mile run on the Hudson. Tailwind is super fun.

My office (along with lots of others, I guess) is closed tomorrow. More wine!

Enjoy! :drinking1 I'm having milk and cookies. We wound up with 3 half gallons of milk since DH and I both bought one and my mom gave us one.

We just got in from our first long dog walk since Saturday AM. The wind definitely got the dogs riled up! All of the store and restaurant signs on the main block were swinging back and forth in the wind. Saw a few buses running. Lots of people were walking around.

There's a big park at the end of our block that borders the Long Island Railroad track. It seems that one of the trees in the park fell across the tracks. We could see the service train through the woods and heard them chainsawing up the tree.

Just want to send good thoughts to those affected by the flooding in Manville, sink hole on Route 33, and GSP collapse that occurred tonight.
