Hurricane Matthew Closes WDW - Reopens Saturday, October 8th

These people are absolutely raiding the refrigerators here like it's Costco. Poor CMs are carting supplies back and forth.
I've been in retail for 15 years. This looks like Black Friday for me :)

I didn't go all out everyday for breakfast I take my mug fill up with tea I then drink my OJ wash that container out and pour from my mug into oj bottle and and stash that in the mini fridge. I have 3 bottles and 2 of the four in room glasses filled

We stopped at Walmart be I got about 6 lunchables, and some soda

There are also two pickles and 1 pineapple cup in that fridge along with the ice bucket full of ice and leftover over french toast from this morning

I feel confident I didn't go too crazy like I saw at the food court the past two nights

Our flight home Saturday on SWA was cancelled. By the time I received the text, every flight is sold out until Monday.

I went to the Beach Club front desk who told me everything was sold out and I couldn't book a room anywhere on property until "they see how things are" tomorrow. So I booked a room at Pop myself (online) for Saturday-Monday. Now wondering if we will be able to get transportation to Pop on Saturday??

I feel so lost. I feel like I let my family down. I wish we had rented a car and driven home this morning. I thought about renting one right now and driving home to TN tonight. Most places are sold out from MCO. The ones I found are nearly $500. Is it too late to evacuate??

EVERYONE there needs to please think about the CMs, especially those who are going to stick it out with you. The full-timers have homes, pets, children, families ...... they are just as concerned as you - more because they have a lot more than time and a vacation to lose. Remember that something like 13,000 are college kids, most not from FL, who may be absolutely terrified.

Remember they might be working a 72 hour shift; no room or rest like you all. Keep it positive and calm.

Guys, if you're still in the parks, PLEASE go home. let our CMs get home safe. Get yourself home safe. Like come on.

Gotta say - seeing people taking photos in the supposedly closed parks is making me angry. Let these CMs/TMs go home! Get home yourself!

Don't be surprised if resorts begin to move to more minimal staffing to necessary only. Get what you need now, even if a line.

Trader Sam's will be closing tonight at 8 so our skippers can try to get home and be safe.

Here is one of the box lunches. IMPORTANT info in red and honestly I think the price is a ripoff for that. I think $7-8 still puts a huge profit in their pocket. Sad.

#WDW taking advantage of ppl stranded. Hurricane boxes 12.99. U don't see inside till after you buy. No drink.

Least they could have given you Mickey pretzels

I don't know if it is necessarily illegal as it isn't something typically offered. Price gouging comes about when you can track the cost. I do agree though that 12.99 is ridiculous for that. Would be better off standing in line for the hot food.
You are probably right, but I hope that this information hits the media. WDW should be publicly shamed for taking advantage of patrons with so limited options like this.

ETA - They gave away food during Floyd in 1999. This company has really changed.

Stay where you are.

I betcha they won't make you move from the Beach Club on Saturday. Think about the fact that all these incoming folks won't be able to get into Orlando. I also think they'll find a way to get you to Pop. I'm sure it's chaos there right now, even for the CMs. From what I see on a TA website, they've basically halted all new ressies across the property until this sorts itself out.

Kind of what I thought. Thanks. Still hoping roads might be where we can rent a car Sat or Sunday and drive home. It's about a 14 hr drive for us. But again, I don't even know if the roads will be passable

Thanks. I thought they might let us keep our room but I can't afford a few more nights here :(

YOU did not let them down. Leave that out of this.

STAY PUT, even if you got a car the highways are bumper to bumper and gas is limited. You'd likely get stuck and never make it home tonight.

GO TO POP if they can't give you a room there, treat it like another adventure. When the storm passes wander there and AOA and get lots of great pictures ... later they will remember when we had to evacuate to POP Century, how lucky were we.

You get them your luggage asap and have them transfer it. Pack bathing suits or whatever in a backpack for rest of day. You use Disney transportation. Make FP+ for Saturday so if all is open you are ready.

Turn this around. The Matthew Adventure!!!!! :goodvibes

Shameful.

We got the boxed lunches - 4 of them all with QS credits and got bottles of soda. I honestly didn't care about the price because

A) QS credits need to be used

B) We are stuck in our room until tomorrow and will need food.

C) Everything is super expensive at Disney.

My daughter and I did go to Animal Kingdom today. We had a lot of fun but we left well before closing time.

It's rainy and windy so far but not horrible. We still have power and internet (of course), but our cable is out. We are at AoA. Right now, I have our portable chargers charging and are charging our other devices.

You can check Alamo, National, and Enterprise websites to see if you can reserve a car to pick up at the Dolphin. Take a look at the Transportation board for Contract Codes and Coupon Codes.

I rented a car from Dolphin for the past two weeks and dropped it off at MCO. Always very easy to do - the Dolphin valets bring the car out to you.

Some are reporting Saturday airline cancelations. I'm sure they're going to be so overbooked it wouldn't be surprising if they added waivers to cancel or change flights.
My guess is will take some time for airlines to move equipment and crews back into the area after the "all clear."

At Pop. The line to get the box lunches stretches from the registers to half-way through the main lobby.
