Hurricane Ivan

We are getting to Celebration on Thursday, and our moving truck is due to arrive with our stuff on Friday. I seriously hope we aren't arriving just in time for another hurricaine!

This is a link that I often look at - I like the longer range forecasts that they give, plus they give lots of historical tracks to compare against.

Originally this storm looked like it would hit the Dominican Republic - lots of mountains there to break it up - but unfortunately, this type of event also causes a lot of mudslides, and much more catostrophic damage than when it hits other areas. On the positive side - the storms rarely survive an impact with the mountains. All along this track the islands to the north have many mountains.

The latest track looks very similar to Charley - have a look in the historical archives on this site.

Lets hope this just dies a quick death in the Atlantic - better for everyone.
