Hi all!!

got off the 8/21 - 8/25 Disney Dream Cruise. We (and Captain Henry Anderson) stayed one step ahead of the storm. Perfect weather through Nassau and Castaway Cay (Irene hit Nassau right after we left ... saw pics of damages).

We docked back at Port Canaveral a bit early (midnight of the morning of debarkation) to avoid the storm.

Thanks Captain Harry for keeping us safe and keeping us informed!! :thumbsup2

We were going to spend a few more days at WDW, but due the the impending storm to hit our Jersey Shore area, took a flight back to Newark last night.

Did some early morning grocery shopping, and now the rains have started, everyone facebooking and texting updates, etc. We live about 2 miles from the ocean, and we haven't been evacuated ... but all of the neighboring coastal towns seem to have been.

Would appreciate updates from all up and down the eastern seaboard ... at least as long as the internet/electricity, etc are still on.

Cheers.

So we have you to blame for this storm? :rotfl: Just kidding.

There's a really valuable resource going on over at Facebook right now. Search for "Jersey Shore Hurricane News." It has posts almost every minute from people all over the state spreading the words about how things are going. I've been following it as I'm from NJ and the news and information posted have been excellent.

Stay safe!

Thanks NikkiBell! Yup, ive been following that page on facebook as well. In addition to cable, texts from neighbors/friends/family, and of course the Dis!

We were on the same cruise and were very pleased that we were able to stay ahead of the hurricane.

We had a DVC stay on points booked following the cruise, so could not easily cancel to go back home early. We were scheduled to fly home on 8/28, but were informed late on 8/26 that our flight home was cancelled.

We ended up staying two additional nights at WDW until we could get a flight out on 8/30. Our son was thrilled that we stayed two extra days, and thankfully, no real damage at home in Connecticut. By the time we got home the power was back on, too!
