Huntington or Manhattan

I am deciding between Huntington Beach and Manhattan Beach for my CA Adventure! Which one would you recommend! I have eliminated Venice Beach from the first day and also Redondo and Marina Del Rey! Also I am still open to Laguna Beach!

Is Manhattan or Huntington Beach water anywhere near the Caribbean or is it even blue!

The sea is blue on a sunny day at Manhattan Beach, but mostly it's green - could be cuz of all the kelp offshore (& why there are so many sea lions around here).

Huntington or Newport Beach are a good choice for a beach to go to.

Huntington all the way. But then I grew up in Anaheim (only 3 miles from DL! ) so Huntington & Newport was where we usually went. Huntington's Main St. is a cool place to walk around, and of course Balboa is a lot of fun (near Newport's pier). Also Laguna is a really cool little beach town. I'm in favor of the beaches of Orange County though, so I don't really know the LA beaches too well. Have fun!

I have a different opinion from an above post - I stayed at the Hyatt in Huntington Beach a couple of months ago and was completely disgusted by the filthy beach there. It was awful! We went for a sunset walk and I could not believe it - dirty diapers, trash of all kinds, yuck! I was afraid to let my 5 yr old ds take off his sandals. We spent the rest of the trip at the hotel pool. Also, when we left the beach we were approached by 2 scary guys in the parking lot and I was scared. The atmosphere was not a friendly one and it was just after sunset.
I am a native Californian and grew up in the LA area. I am not a fool who thinks that everywhere is safe or clean, but I am not kidding about how shocked and bummed out I was at Huntington Beach. (The Hyatt was awesome but the beach was terrible) This was in June.
I live in San Diego and have NEVER seen one of our beaches look like that, except maybe in the evening on the Fourth of July.

I would recommend Manhattan but I love Hermosa beach. It is located between Manhattan and Redondo and a beautiful beach community.

I hope you have a fun trip and if you do go to Huntington I hope it is cleaner then when I did - I found it depressing people treated the beach and ocean that way.

Are there any hotels ON the beach near Huntington Beach besides the Hyatt??

I like Manhattan Beach. I am prejudice because my sister lives there, but there are lots of shops and restaurants to visit as well as a clean beach. The pier is fun and if you have little ones the aquarium out at the end of the pier is a little adventure.
