3 weeks from our arrival ......EXCITED.....I have found alot of info on Huntington Beach except how to get there the safest, best and easiest for a group of 3 adults, 2 kiddo's and an 11 month old(we will have are seat ) Taxi, shuttle servive, tour or rent a car ? Thank you for the help, you all are GREAT...:woohoo: Arlene

We have made three trips to DL and each time have taken a day out to go to Huntington Beach. We have rented a car in Downtown Disney (Alamo was the last one) and just kept it for the day. We have always had an easy time parking and our favorite is to eat at Ruby's at the end of the pier.

I know some people are scared to drive in Southern California, but you can easily do this. You have 3 adults -- one to drive, one to navigate, and one to keep the kids amused.

Personally, I would ignore all of the freeway instructions for getting there and simply drive west, then south. Pick your favorite streets -- they are all fairly straight and flat. I often go west on Katella all the way to Brookhurst or Magnolia and then straight down to the beach. Park downtown or at the beach -- avoid the meters because they run out too fast. Walk on the pier, eat at Sugar Shack, play in the sand, etc.

Plus you can move around once you are there. I have to imagine that renting a van for the day would be cheaper than two one-way taxis. DH took a taxi from Long Beach to Huntington a few months ago and it was like $100. It was his friend's idea to avoid the "hassle" of a rental. I was so mad.

Eating at Ruby's is the best :thumbsup2 Good diner food, and the most AMAZING view of the ocean. Seriously, ask for a booth by the windows and you're just going to find yourself staring out into the blue abyss :goodvibes

If you are going on a Friday morning they have a great Farmer's Market in the parking lot by the pier. And the driving isn't as bad as most people think, skip the 5 and head down to PCH and up. Then you can stop along the way at all kinds of fun beaches & spots.

You all are so helpfull, thank you so much for your insite !! It's headed below zero for a HIGH here on friday so I am in Vacation mode big time !!
