Any other ladies' DH's go hunting this week?
Firearm season officially started this morning, news says approx 750,000 hunters(drunken men with guns??) will take to the woods here in Michigan. Have to admit that I'm guilty of enjoying the peace and quiet here at home with just me and the kids. Not that I don't love him, but think it's good to have a little break now and then. Distance makes the heart grow fonder...and all of that blah, blah, blah

Can't say that I get the whole allure of hunting .I Understand about the whole circle of life thing, but would never be able to look an animal in the eye and shoot it. And the fact that they're sleeping in the middle of the woods in a pop up when it was 39 degrees last night, well can't see the fun in that either :confused3

The allure of hunting? NO WOMEN!!! :rotfl2:

I think opening day here in New York is the 19th. My husband goes with 3 of his brothers to one of their hunting camps upstate with no electric and no running water! yuk! This ritual has been going on for about 30 years and luckily for the deer, my husband just uses this as a vacation time to be with his brothers and friends. As he has gotten older, going outside in the freezing cold before dawn has lost some of its charm. I think he would rather stay inside with the wood stove.

DH will be heading to Michigan on Thursday for a weekend of deer hunting. He's not what I'd call an avid hunter though, so I don't really qualify as that type of widow.

Now golf, on the other hand....

Northern Zone is already open here in NY
Southern zone opens in a few days

DH is going hunting this weekend with my Dad and I hope to get out in the woods on Sunday for a few hours

I guess i don't really qualify as a widow since i to like to Hunt but since i am lucky if i get one or two days
and DH goes for a few days at a time several times during the season maybe i do count allittle

Can I just butt in here and let you know that I thought this thread was going to be about hunting actual "Widows"!!!!!! I'm thinking, why would anyone want to hunt a poor woman that's lost her husband!

Sorry, go back to your regular thread....... :rotfl:

Just be glad you don't live in South Dakota where it is LEGAL to SHOOT FROM YOUR VECHILE! You can be driving along the road, see a pheasant or whatever, pull over, grab your gun and BOOM! You just can't be within 50 yards of any buildings.

DH doesn't hunt.

My DH is a hunter too, but we have our own property so he doesn't have to camp out! LOL. He does go out sometimes all day and I don't see the attraction either, but he enjoys it so I say what the heck. DS goes now too and they have male bonding time :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
DD and I go shopping so I guess it is the same more or less!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I hope I don't die this weekend or come up missing, the Dh wouldn't even notice :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :confused3 :smooth:

Hunting "widows"??

Dang...I thought this was gonna be a how-to on picking up older rich chicks. :teeth:

My DH is leaving Friday for a 5 hour drive into the middle of nowhere. Last year was the first year since I've known him that he got a deer. We still have a freezer full of venison. Nobody eats it but him, and he just never gets around to eating it. So I told him he could stay home this year and he could save his vacation for a trip with me. We haven't been anywhere together since the kids came along. But I guess I'm not as appealing as a bunch of stinky men sleeping in a crowded cabin together with rusty water and no electricity. Oh well, I think I'm going to plan a girls only trip to Vegas. I'll probably have more fun without him anyway!
