Hungry Are The Damned! 10/15/07-10/25/07 - COMPLETED W/LOTS OF PICS!!!

Wow - the sushi looks amazing! I will definitely be adding Kimonos for next October's trip....yes, I'm already planning. ;)

Great installment! :thumbsup2

I could stare at that sushi all day long - it's gorgeous, isn't it?

And if we were going back next year you can bet your mouse ears that I'd be planning already, too!

Hey! that's me! Looking forward to it. ::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

Hope you're not SERIOUS about next year ::scared:: Say you'll be back!

Glad to see you both again :)

P.S. Business question... re: the no way jose - I'm a fan of the Baskin robbins PB and Choc ice cream. The PB is a sweet frozen wafery slab of peaunut butter. I don't like peanut butter that tastes as though it came out of a jar stirred in (too creamy, too real). What's this one like?

Hi Mel! Thanks for stopping by! As to the peanut butter topping with the No Way Jose ... it's very creamy and smooth, which is how I like it but you might not like it as much based on your comment. I'd suggest that you ask for a sample of it before you order, just to be on the safe side.

ahhhh Brenda's back. missed you sweetie ! Can't wait for the rest of the reports! :thumbsup2

Thank you - I've missed everyone here, too. It's just a big food oriented love-fest! :grouphug: Thanks for reading so far!

Ooohhhh that sushi looks good :goodvibes

Try Kimonos on your next trip if you like sushi - I think you'll be pleased.

Oooh, that sushi looks so delicious! Unfortunately though, Kimonos is one restaurant that won't be on our list for our next trip :sad2: David, my DH, is allergic to fish, so although I really enjoy sushi we can't eat there. Oh well, I'll just have to make do with looking at your pics instead!

BTW, do you really imagine that we ate a dinner for two at Spoodles and didn't order a jug of Sangria to wash it down? :rotfl2:

Oh, that's too bad because if you like sushi you'd probably really enjoy this place.

Sometimes people have an "off" night and don't order anything of an alcoholic nature with dinner. I didn't want to assume that you'd had the Sangria, but now that I know you have ... wasn't it great?

Haven't even read any of this yet, but wanted to get on board. I can't believe you started a report already. Wow!

I also had to say, as far as cultural references go, I like the title because I actually saw that episode! :rotfl:

Howdy, Sarah! I started a trippie, yes, but the trick is finishing now that I'm back at work.

Somehow this title seemed really appropriate for us. I hope Matt Groening doesn't sue because we don't have any money. :rotfl2:

Just the thought of eating sushi makes me lose a pound or two and yes, I do know that it is not raw fish. :rotfl2:

I am a constant dieter and foodaholic and have found that I can watch Food Network shows and look at the Food Porn thread for hours and not want to eat anything. Odd, very odd. :confused3

SG/Linda (who is going to start carrying pics of sushi in her purse to kill her appetite)

Do you just not like sushi or is it all types of fish? If it helps feel free to print of that sushi platter and look at it whenever you need to kill the urge to eat. ;)

Well Howdy!
My favorite Jewish Russian Ballerina!;)
I will be hoisting a cider to you when DH and I are at Raglin Road in 28 days.
You have the BEST food reviews and pics are great.
Thanks. :wizard: :)

Hi there! Thanks for posting and for your kind comments - you can't see me but I am pirouetting even as I type (have to get some exercise in during my lunch-hour). Mmmmmm...Raglan Road .... cider ... Disney.

Hope you have a great trip!! :goodvibes

SUSHI!

in the last couple of years, my much more daring DH has introduced me to sushi and I have to admit it has grown on me. (no pun intended...)

Glad you gave it a go!

Look forward to more.

Ms. H

I have to admit that a few years ago the sight of that sushi platter would have made me flee the restaurant, screaming hysterically for something palatable like Kraft macaroni and cheese or a hot dog.

I think as time goes by I will enjoy it more and more ... now if I could just get those chopstick thingies to work. :lmao:

Ms. Heimlich, I hereby grant you all of my lifetime share of sushi and I will take your allotment of chocolate. Seems fair to me!1 :lmao:

SG/Linda

Chocolate sushi, anyone? ;)

Ok, I am WAAAAAAAY behind, but I thought I'd jump in with some thoughts. It's easier and faster than working on my reports. :rolleyes1

Hey, I do it all the time! :rotfl2:

Hey, your chocolate's in my peanut butter. Hey, your peanut butter's on my chocolate. Mmmmmm....
Man, am I dating myself that I remember the FIRST Reese's commercials???

I remember those commercials too, so thanks for dating me as well.

Ummmm...that sounds wrong, doesn't it? :lmao:

I say EEEEEEEWWW, but because of the content, not the sentiment. But my dd13 says to tell Mrs. Brenda she concurs. :thumbsup2 Or try mayo. She and ketchup -- not so much friends.

Your daughter has fabulous taste!

:scared1: Good Lord, that sundae is as BIG as your head! Run away, run away!

[Tee hee on the centerfold bit. I frequent "that" food pic thread here on the DIS. My friends think its hilarious that I would rather look at pics of food rather than the racy stuff.]

Even having never had the sundae, I would have to agree. This may be a case where too much chocolate is NOT a good thing. Vanilla would off-set the saltiness of the pb better.

Got to go read more!

It's a huge portion; that's why I suggest sharing it (unless you're dining with a complete and total ice cream glutton).

And I know the thread of which you speak ... it is good although sometimes (like now) it makes me sad because I do not know when we shall return to ... "trough it" as a friend so recently phrased it. :rotfl2:

Thanks for taking the time to read our stuff.

YAY!!!! i didn't even see this till right now, so i have not read anything yet..however i just wanted to say THANK YOU for what i know will be amazing reviews..woohoo!:cool1:
Cancel that, i have now read the begining of this adventure..BRAVA'!! That sush looks DELICIOUS!!! mmmm ..and i Love the stonecutters reference..such a great episode!

Hi Gina! Thanks for reading - I hope it helps you out a bit for that trip you have coming up in December. And the StoneCutters ... another all-time favorite episode. Wanna join the ancient order of No-Homers? ;)

Ok, I have a confession to make...

I was disapointed by the No way Jose :scared1:

I don't understand what I did wrong, I love peanut butter, fudge, chocolate and vanilla ice cream as well as whipped cream...

I think people might want to ban me from the DIS

Don't feel bad ... maybe you tried it on an "off" day. And maybe you just didn't like it ... that's OK, too. No one here would ban you ... they'd just suggest you try a different dessert! :rotfl2:

Thanks for reading!

Another great installment - I'm so glad I actually caught this baby from the start! How did you find the sushi? I've never ever tried it, although in my head it tastes like smoked salmon, which I don't like!

I forgot to mention before that I love the name of the trippie! The episode has one of my favourite 'lesser-characters' Serak the Preparer... I've slaved in the kitchen for days! Me and DBF are Simpsons Nuts too!

Ooh ooh, and I'm also glad that I'm not the only person in the world who hates ketchup... everyone over here thinks I'm nuts!

Brenda,
Thank you for taking the time to write and post such wonderful reviews! :thumbsup2 Looking forward to reading them as we plan for our December trip.:dance3:
K

That sushi looks beautiful but ewww ewww ewww :scared:

How could you order a mint drink when you don't like mint? :rotfl2:

EWWWWWW Raw Bait!!

I know some sushi is cooked, but it still looks like bait to this Tennessee Country girl! And my brother, who lived in Japan for 4 years doing deep, dark secret government work (I still think he was just there trying to undermine the whole society by singing Karaoke!) loved it too, but would still have me send him some "Pioneer Gravy Mix" packages to use on board ship, when he would go out with the Japanese Navy. (See, it really was top secret! How else could a 6'2" red-headed, potbelly balding man with a huge tatoo that said "Southern Born, Southern Bred", (complete with American and Confederate Flags) fit in?) Gosh that's a lot of parentheses!

And as for next October, maybe, maybe....

And Mango in Paris is one of my favS!!

I had a great day today. One of my prereaders read his first real book today, all the way through AND to his younger brother who was enthralled. I live for moments like this!!:thumbsup2

Chocolate sushi? I just lost five pounds thinking of that. The only fish I can stomach is shrimp.

I have heard of using a rubber band on your chopsticks to make them easier to use. I would just 'spear' the food. I once had a spoon with holes in the bowl that was called a diet spoon. :lmao:

I do not care for elaborate food so the No Way Jose did not appeal to me either. I do not like banana splits. My favorite ice cream is the McD's cone. Only 140 calories and about a dollar. My kind of thing.

Youngsters all! I am so old I remember way back before there was a Reese Peanut Butter Cup. All hail the inventor so it though, a god among gods to my way of thinking. I have not had one in over three years and may never have one again but memories linger on. :cloud9:

Sorry for not responding correctly but I have had a full day and am hoping for a bit of sleep before I have to wake up and do it all over again. :dance3:

SG/Linda

Hi Brenda! :wave2:

I've been avoiding the Food threads because since I'm diabetic now - I can't eat all that wonderful food and it makes me a little sad to read along... but if it's YOUR thread I simply cannot resist~ ! :thumbsup2

Your leg regenerated itself nicely. It looks just like the original. ;)

So, I de-lurked myself over on Argle-Bargle- but way late and I think I must re-de-lurk now, instead of assuming familiarity.

I am excited to read another food report of yours and laugh :lmao: at your awesome captions and wittiness, (and then call my mom (wdwthanksgiving) to see if she laughed at your written hilarity at the same places as I)

Looking forward to the next episode! :)

:cheer2: Yeah! Welcome back!
Tell Jason I'm glad he's feeling better.
Peanut Butter cups is my absolute favorite food. I was practically licking the screen when I saw the No Way Jose!
We are all rather new sushi converts around here (except the 4 year old) and were rather disappointed that the Japanese restaurants were closed when we were there in August. Kimonos seems like a good alternative.
I look forward to reading more.

Great Report so far...I'm in! And now I'm thinking of checking out Kimonos!!! It looked YUMMY!

Wow !

You guys are nothing short of *delightful* !

A wicked sense of humor, and Simpsons fans to boot....

*woot*

ahem... pardon my outburst.... I'm just this side of giddy.

Nice to know this site features such kind folks as yourselves...

Apologies for my tardiness but I'm here now - love the look of those burgers and the No Way Jose (although I have to block out the peanut butter thing or else I'd be retching my way through those photos ;) )

I have to say, sushi is something which I couldn't bring myself to even try - bravo to you for giving it a go :goodvibes

Keep those reports coming :thumbsup2

I just had to share this ...

I emailed Jay a little while ago and was lamenting the fact that I'm still hungry and am looking at a lunch of tomato soup with crackers and afternoon snacks of one Golden Delicious apple and a box of raisins.

This was his response:

Just give your soup/crackers a fancy sounding name, so it seems more
exotic...

I'm having an Alaskan salmon pate, with deconstructed carrot and tart
apple salsa; along with an herb-infused wild berry-plum tea.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

This is funny because Jay's lunch is a vacuum sealed pouch of salmon in water, raw carrots, and a Granny Smith apple, washed down with some unsweetened ice tea he brought from home.

I guess I'm not the only one missing the vacation food right now. ;)

Hope to be back later tonight with an update for Day 2, which will include a lot of food from the F&W Festival and FREE BEER!!!!! :thumbsup2

:lmao: :lmao: He is good!!!!!

Regardless of the fact that we are eating at a few of the restaurants (Kona, CP, Le Cellier, Sci-Fi) that you are reviewing here, I would read any reviews by you for the sheer enjoyment!! You're a hoot!:rotfl2: There is nothing as good as an honest review, unless it is an honest review by a comedy writer!

I can't believe I'm three days and seven pages behind!! :scared1: Thanks for the heads-up that this report was in progress. That darned WORK keeps getting in the way of my DIS-ing! Did you mention the Powerball?

Anyway, welcome home, and I'm glad Jay is feeling better. Can't wait to read all your fabulous reviews!:goodvibes
