Hula left her room then all chaos broke out! Nobody home in a staff room doesn't work

So hosts are not responsible for the people they choose to help in their rooms, but yet we can get banned because somebody discusses something against VMK values in a public room that we are in, even though we are not the guilty parties? Sounds like the old saying "do as I say not as I do". :confused3

If the hosts are not planning on staying with their rooms to supervise them than another vmk staff should have been there, or completely put ride pieces in the room so as you come into the room you are automatically sent on your way through the rooms.

I am no way saying Hula is a bad host, but I actually was one of the people who got in right before VMK_Red came in and saw first hand the people standing around in the room being rude and/or trying to trade. Hula does not need 5 helpers in a room, and if they were not helpers(which they probably were'nt) than the actual helper should have told them to leave and reported them if they did'nt. But since the helper was'nt doing what they should have been doing, maybe Hula won't ever let them help again.

I for one am tired of the helpers using the host rooms as a chatroom for them and their friends. If a host asks you to help and you accept, than do what is expected of you and quit acting like you are some big shot on vmk. I am not saying all the helpers in the past months have been bad, but there have been a few.

The thing I cant answer is, how do we know the "helper" really was the helper? ROFL How many people have you seen in a second room telling people to move on that aren't really supposed to be helping?

If the person was "helping" than yes I believe Hula should hold that person accountable.

It's important to remember that the hosts dont have the advantage we all have, they cant come on here and defend themselves.

I want to clear things up here.
First do not blame Hula for todays event. She had to step away to help some friends that were in danger of losing their house due to fire. Hula did not have to open her room. She could have just as easily had staff send a VMK message to all of us that the event was cancelled. She opened the room and aranged to have someone come and close it.

Now as for that second room I had seen and agree that things were not picture perfect. Yes some of the players were breaking rules trading in there and being very rude. This was just plain rude of them to disrespect a host room like that. We all know if Hula could have been there things would not have been that way. A couple off bad apples should not ruin it for the rest of us though.

I for one want to thank Hula for being nice enough to let us get a bat bag. I also want to thank everyone who helped out by moving though the lines very quickly. All in all I think for the most part her room was a success. I saw lots of players flying through the rooms and being very nice to each other. Many of you got to go in the room more than a few times.

And Hula if your reading this my prayers go out to your friends. I hope everything works out ok for them. They sure are lucky to have someone like you to help them out.

As I said at the beginning Hula has a very nice room. And I was unaware of Hula's reason for leaving that is why I asked the question. You did a very good job running the first room, it was the second room that had all the problems. I was not tring to critize Hula, but wanted her to be aware of how the second room was so out of control. And yes, if Hula reads this, I want her to know I appreciate her having the room open and as I said at the beginning it is a lovely room that Everyone has the chance to get a prize.
Just wanted her to be aware of how things went when she was not there. And gl to Hula and her friends in their time of need.

It is obvious which is the helper in Hula's second room because Hula places them behind objects that you can not enter in without her assistance. The other five running around in the maze area where just people claiming to be helpers.

This was in no way intended to bash Hula. Hula is a great host. The reason I started this thread was because I heard that VMK staff and host read this board, and since using contact us gets generic replies or call for help gets the response leave the room, I thought maybe they would read this and get an idea of what was happening.
And again, I hope Hula is ok and her friends and family are ok, if the reason she was gone is the reason stated in some of these posts.

OK well if thats the case. It should be looked into. just curious were the fake "helpers" helping ROFL?

The helper is behind the wall which nobody else can get behind. And the friends are right by the wall, there is no sense in these people staying in the room for an hour.

yes, if you call blocking the way and being obnoxious helpful lol

I'm not blaming Hula exactly, but I am surprised that someone didn't foresee that this would end badly. I don't think it's a good idea for a host room to be open if there isn't someone on hand with booting privileges. A ten minute gap while the host reboots is one thing, but from the sound of things, this was just asking for trouble.

Saying 'please choose a teleporter' only goes so far. "Helpers" are great for explaining to players how a game works or where to go next, but there is absolutely nothing, beyond using the call for help button, that they can do about players who just don't want to move on, and in fact I have more than once seen trouble start with a 'helper' being a little too pushy and another player deciding to be contrary just to spite them. I completely sympathize with Hula being unable to run her room today, but I do not think that leaving the room open to be run by regular players was the right move.

I mean, we've seen Lily or Fin step in many, many times when poor Hula is having connection problems. Why didn't that happen? Or, if it wasn't possible, why not have a regular staffer set up base in the room when she wasn't responding to other calls for help? A staff member who pops in every few minutes to boot the loiterers would be far more effective at keeping the room moving than a player who has no way of enforcing the rules, and she'd at least function as an effective threat for the CL to use in the meantime. ("VMK_Red will not be happy if she comes back and you're still here..." is at least something other than "Step into the teleporter, pretty please, or I'll ask you to step into it again.") And failing that, why not just close the room early? There are worse things than canceling a Monday morning host room, and I think allowing this kind of chaos is right up there on the list.

Oh they cleared out quick when VMK_Red showed up, I remember one of them saying VMK_Red is behind the trees see her ears.

Woot Woot!! Finally, someone who gets what I'm trying to say!!! A good old boot was definitely needed in the second room today!!

Lets say VMK_Red came in every 5 minutes with her boots.

How long before you think there was a thread titled

OMG VMK_Red booted me for no reason

Just saying ROFL. I dont think VMK can win in this situation. It sounds like Hula wanted to let people try and get a bat bag. Yavn used to have his room open all the time from the teleporter rooms if you remember. So there is a precedence of this happening in the past.

ETA: delicious, i know you have said a couple times this wasnt really aimed at hula, but maybe people think it is because of the title of the thread.

I titled the thread this way, because according to some of the disers the host and or staff read this board, and if you were skimming the title of threads would you not look at this one to see what was going on? That is the reason for the title. It was Hula's room and it was out of control. And if you notice my first statement is that Hula has a nice room.

Well I was just saying because before I even opened the thread I thought you were slamming Host Hula.

ok now you know the reason, so any suggestions on title and i will change it, because i just want the staff or host to look at it please.

Okay- when I finnaly got in, host hula had announced to get in a line to recieve a bat bag because time was short- 30 MINUTES AFTER CLOSING TIME!!(although that always happens:rolleyes: ) I DID recieve a bat bag. But when I went into the second room people were talking about vmk red... Im guessing I had just missed him! well I have a feeling perhaps hula called for red to check the room out knowing she was aware that she could not let some vmk'ers take charge of the room fully. we should all be atleast thanksful we got something for halloween and for FREE!! lol night. :)

how about something like. Hula left her room and then all chaos broke out? or Nobody home in a staff room doesnt work?

I just got the impression that seeing Hula lost control, almost makes it seem like she was there and did nothing. You know some people skip to the last page and dont even read all the posts before chiming in ROFL.
