Huh, first issue with a pre-paid phone plan

I have Straight Talk, my kids have Spot Mobile.

Both are prepaid plans.

I am trying to post a Craigslist listing and it is saying it needs to send me a verification code. It didn't work when I put in my cell number.

It states at the bottom that it canno send a code to a prepaid cell plan phone.

I am sending it to Dh's work cell as that is a contract phone plan.

I never would have thought this would be an issue.

That is strange I'm pretty sure it has sent the code to my phone and its prepaid. Maybe its something new with the last 6 months or so? Then again how would it know whether or not your phone is prepaid?

It's probably because of the use of people using pre-paid cell phone to hide their identity and they doing illegal things. There is no trace of the person who made the ad, if police need to get involved. Unfortunately, you're an innocent who's effected by this.....

Which is probably why they switched to phone numbers. Anyone can make a fake email account...

It isn't just a craigslist thing. I can't get school closing texts from my local news station because I have a prepaid phone.
