There's a very convenient little feature called "Block" that I've employed on facebook quite a few times and politics was usually the reason. I also don't care to know what my friends think (unless of course they agree with me ).

YouTube chat shuts down after about 10 minutes or so after the show. Facebook lasts FOREVER.
