Approximately how much would this cost.......I would like to stay inside Disney for the eight days.........but if it is less expensive to stay at........gasp.......Universal Hotels in that area.........and then get the passes that way.........what do you all think......mears or this other one quotes too please........

you could rent a car for 1 or more days? or a cab? Once took a cab from airport to contemp was about 40.00? Think you could call or e-mail universal florida asking about shuttle service? or call your resort and ask them about shuttle service to ua they could help too. MKY:)

We are staying at a Universal onsite hotel for our next WDW vacation in December. The Hard Rock Hotel. It will give us extra benefits just like when you stay at an onsite WDW hotel. You can walk to the parks or use transportation and the best thing of all: Front of the line access all day! I can't wait to try that!

We got the Entertainment book rate of $117 for a standard room which I think is normally $189.

Then, after 2 days, we'll move on to the GF at WDW for 4 days and then a 3 day cruise! Can't wait!

We're renting a car for the 10 days for $214, and I'm hoping the rates will come down some more before then.

Hope this helps you!

Pumba, we just did this in February. We called Mears to go to Universal. If I remember correctly, it was around $10 for each of us, round trip.

I did the Disney/US thing in Feb as well, and if you're planning on staying on Disney property, you'll most likely want to rent a car for the few days you're going to US. You can always take a shuttle, but you'll be at the mercy of shuttle times and for the price of a cab, you could have a rental for that day and the freedom to come and go as you please.

I stayed at ASMu for the first three days, then moved over to the Sheraton for my two days at US/IOA. I had a rental the entire time and, in retrospect, I probably would have been better off staying on Disney property and driving to US both days. I found myself opening the parks and pooping out around 4:00 or 5:00. If I had been on Disney property, I would have come back to the resort in the early afternoon after US, taken a rest and gone to Epcot or DS because they're open later than US would have been. Besides, Disney magic is sooo much better than watching TV or swimming in the Sheraton pool!

But that's just my opinion. I went alone and don't know if you kids or others to consider.

Your posts have been really helpful. We will be staying at HRH and visiting WDW....I have one more inquiry to add to this thread...How long does Mears transport? Are they available until the parks close at WDW? It seems to me it may be better just to rent a vehicle for a couple of days, depending on how flexible you want to be. Also, do they have car rental on-site at these resort hotels?

We did it in Dec. and it was $l0 each roundtrip. They have regular pickups at WDW hotels. At ASMo they had 4 pickup times. You call that a.m. and schedule a pickup. They come and get you, and drop you at USF. Then, you call 1/2 hr before you want to go home and they come get you. The shuttle runs until 2:00 a.m. We plan to do this again in the fall.

We rented a car at the Wyndham Palace Hotel (alamo has an office on property) for one day for $38.00. It was fun driving around a piece of the world we were not that familiar with.:bounce:
