Hubby doesn't want to do the tux. I figure there is no sense arguing about it or letting it ruin my trip. Will a grey pin-stripped suit be okay for the formal nights? :bounce: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :jester:

whytcrystal -

You are so very wise!! Formal night is to be enjoyed but it can be enjoyed much more looking happy in a nice suit vice miserable in a tux. My DH loves to dress up and we rented through DCL so the tux was there when we boarded - but, if he didn't want to, that would be okay, too. It is vacation and my joy comes from seeing my family happy and comfortable. Oh, and I'm pretty happy if the photographer remembers to slap on that "slimming lense" so I look 20 lbs lighter!! LOL

To be honest, the formal pictures turn out much better when everyone is relaxed and in good spirits. On formal night, I saw many more suits than tuxes and many folks in casual clothes. I could also pick out those children and spouses who were obviously miserable being all decked out. So, stick to your philosophy and just enjoy!!

I think a grey pin stripe sounds just wonderful!! And, I'm sure you will look lovely in whatever you choose to wear! Have a wonderful cruise!!

We just got back from the 5/18 Eastern and we saw maybe 1 or 2 tuxes...very rare. Everyone had on dark suits for formal night.

Suits are quite acceptable for formal nights.

To be honest, though, as a musician I've owned a lot of tuxedos that were more comfortable than than some suits. The trick, as with suits as well, is to buy what is tailored to fit. Some rentals can be tailored well, but usually not.

We were on the western inaugural. DH wore a brown suit with a yellow shirt and coordinating tie. He was fine. Probably because it was the inaugural, we did see about 1/2 the men in tuxes.

Go with what you're comfortable with.

Thank You all for your input - that's one more thing I don't have to think about. We have decided against the passports too - just hope policy doesn't change the week before we go or we'll be out of luck!

My dh wore a dark blue suit, but my brother was one of the those wearing a tux. There were a lot of military families aboard and it was so nice to see them dressed in their dress uniforms!
