We are considering adding a third park day to our trip. The day that we would add would be April 14. Considering going to HS. I just learned that there is a special event that night and so we would need to leave by 7:00 (so no Fantasmic or Star Wars fireworks for us). Would you pay the almost $600 additional for our family of 5 for a day at HS if you had to leave by 7:00? Am I making too much out of missing the evening entertainment?

It shouldn't be $600. Even if you're all Disney adults, it's less than $500 to add that next day.

With that said, is there any way to change your plans around and do HS on another day and go somewhere else on that 3rd day?

Am I calculating incorrectly? How are you getting less than $500? Wouldn't we have to pay the difference in the price of the 2 day MYW ticket and the 3 day MYW ticket? We have 3 adults and 2 kids. 2 day tickets are $211.94 for adults (including tax) and $199.16 for kids. So a total of $1034.14 for our family. 3 day tickets are $329.09 for adults and $309.92 for kids. So a total of $1607.11 for our family. Difference is $572.97. I got these prices off of mousesavers.

If we switch around our other days, we would lose dining reservations that we wouldn't be able to rebook on another day at this point. Also our fast passes for the other days would get messed up.

Taken from the Disney website.

It looks like the math is a little off but it's still a lot of money.

I can't really advise on whether or not the value is there for you. I don't think I would pay that but our travel length and family size isn't at all like yours. We come from Canada so we stay a minimum of 10 nights (usually 12 nights) and there is only two of us. I guess what I'm trying to say is only you can make that descision for your group. Personally if I was adding the extra day I'd take in one of the other parks. At this time DHS went from being our favourite park to our least favourite - for now.
