We're coming in October to Disney with DS9 and DD5 and I'm making our park plans and figuring out FP.

I'd like to try to get FP of Star Tours for DS9 at 11am-12pm.
During that time, I would like to take DD5 to the first showing of Beauty and the Beast, which is at 11:45am.

My questions are:
  1. Can you get a FP for Beauty and the Beast?
  2. If not...or if in stand by, how early do you have to stand in line to get in (i.e. considering this is the first show of the day)?

Shows are only 2hrs or so and would like to coordinate with Star Tours.

1. Yes. Though the worth of it is judged by many (including me) to be dubious.

2. I can't imagine you wouldn't get in if you arrived even 10 minutes before show time--it's just not that difficult to see.

You most likely can get in without a FP if there is a FP since the show is in an outside type of arena theater with shelter-- has many seats. It's not difficult to watch the show.

The Beauty & the Beast show is only 25 minutes long, not two hours.

Sorry, that was a mis-type. I meant to say that the show runs every 2 hrs.

So even if I'm trying to coordinate the show with DS's ride, that FP isn' worth it? Good to hear there are lots of seats. Arriving 10 minutes before is enough?

It usually is.

Just do ST at the very beginning of your 11:00a window and then go straight to BatB. You should be fine.

Thanks. Good to know that these do not fill up.

Also...my point was to take DD to Beauty and the Beast while DS is at Star Tours (FP for him). Netiher will be interested in the other activity, but also want to minimize the time we have to split up.
Having said that, i don't think these two rides are near each other so may not be the best option anyways.

Not terribly close, no. Figure about a 7-8 minute walk between them.

Here's my opinion..if you have room to get that FP - meaning you and your daughter get it for B&B while Dad and son get one for Star Tours; I would go ahead and get it. I was there last week and although it is true we did not need the FP for B&B (and we did not have one) we were very limited in our seating choices. The entire front and center of the theatre was roped off for FP+ as well as the entire left side.

We sat directly behind the tech booth so it was fine but would have really preferred to sit up front and center. I do believe that once it gets so late they opened up the left side to anyone but it was a bit annoying to us to have so much of the threatre reserved for FP+.

You are one of a small handful of posters I listen to for consistent and reliable info, so you have my attention. ;)

I wonder how long this has been in place...I think I've read one or two other reports suggesting the same recently. I wonder if it's consistent or not or depends on season and crowd levels (or even the number of FPs selected for each show). :confused3

Ahhh thanks...this was on Sunday June 29 for the first show of the day. I wouldn't think it was dependent on the number of FPs selected just because that left side sat empty until a few minutes before show time and then I think they started filling it with walk ups...and I don't believe that side got that full at all..which was very annoying to me having gone early to the show and then not getting to really choose where I sit. And I don't have a problem with FP+ having a reserved area (generally speaking) but soooo much of the theatre seemed a little too much.

I've always thought that would be a good place to sit because then you don't have to worry about someone too tall sitting in front of you. (And I always prefer to sit further back anyway.)

It's not a bad spot. We were a little distracted by the tech work going on in front of us though.

Are you sure your DD(5) won't like Star Tours? My DD, now 8, is a total girly girl, isn't that big on thrill rides, and had never seen Star Wars, but at age 5 Star Tours was one of her absolute favorite rides at WDW. When she hit kindergarten she heard the boys talking about Star Wars, and I think she wanted to be able to go back to school after our trip and hold it over their heads that she had ridden Star Tours. ;) I thought she would hate it, because she really didn't like thrill rides at that age. I think we rode it 4 times that day because she loved it. I had told her beforehand that it would feel like she was going places, but she really wasn't, she was just in a room/car sitting still that was rocking up and down and side to side. I think that made her feel more secure than she does on coasters (she hates BTMR and now EE) or rides with drops (not crazy about Splash Mountain), so she was able to enjoy it because she knew she wasn't really flying through the air. Your DD could surprise you.

That said, we usually do the first B&B show every trip and if you don't care if you aren't sitting down front, I agree with the others that 10 minutes would be fine and you most likely will still get in. We usually do about 15 or 20, but we never get there more than 20 minutes ahead. We went in 10 minutes ahead last October and there were still plently of seats left.

Thank you. This is really good to know. We do have the room as I don't have too many FP essential rides at HS (not doing the Rock Roller Coaster nor Tower of Terror). And if we get a FP for DS and DH for Star Tours, then there is one needed for DD and me.

So nice that your DD liked it. Funny when you're not expecting it.
As for our DD, obviously I don't really know, but I did watch it on you tube and it looked too much of a thrill for her, plus the star wars characters themselves may scare her. There are other thrill type rides that I have marked her down for (e.g Big Thunder Mountain at MK), but this one didn't seem for her.

I am assuming you will get a FP for Toy Story, yes? I believe that Toy Story and BatB are both tier 1 meaning you would only be able to choose one of them in your first 3 selections.

Yes, I had totaly forgot about the tiering at HS. So no FP for Beauty and the Beast.

And I redid our schedule and think it actually works best to catch the last show of the day at 4:15pm. Hopefully same easiness to get seats.
