HRH Limited View and Check in times?

Hi All
Can anyone tell me about the limited view rooms that the HRH offer - where are they and are they smoking. Would you choose this over a garden view at RPR? Also what time can you check in and get your FOTL card? We've got a 9am ressie for character breakfast at confisco grille - would we be able to check in before that so we had the cards to use in the park when we come out?

Not exactly sure what an obstructed view is. We have stayed at HRH for several years now and have had views all over. The obstructed view might be if you overlook the front of the hotel and have a view obstructed by the sign/roof over the front entrance. We have checked in by 9 a.m. I would think you would be able to check in even earlier since the desk is staffed. Pretty much works the same as Disney-check luggage for storage, check-in, get keys and off you go to the park. Have not stayed at any of the other Universal hotels but we really enjoy the HRH and would recommend it.

some of the rooms have foliage or trees that have grown over the years, obstructing the view. i don't know what you mean by limited views.
obstructing and limited might be two different things.

if you have that, the view will be of the tree, foliage which will block some of the view out of the window.

for some people it is a big deal. for others, they appreciate the discounted rate for taking that room.

you can check in and get your hotel keys, store your belongings then hit city walk or the park. you will get a claim check for your stored belongings.

you will have no problem making the reservation at confisco grille at 9:00.
your hotel key will not get you into the park but will be available for the fotl perk for rides and attractions in the park.

your room will be available and ready for you by 4:00.
many times it will be sooner if the hotel is not at high occupancy at the time.

HRH went no smoking a year ago.
smoking is permitted by the guitar fountain in the front on the other side of the drive/drop off section.
some smoking areas in the back of the hotel are available.

pets are allowed on the lower floors in the past.

and for your last question, if a view is important, i would take a room at RPH over HRH. i have stayed over 20 times at HRH and also stayed at RPH.

HRH has less rooms than the other two hotels.
better chance of a room with a view at the others if that is important for you.

We've gotten HRH, obstructed view twice and didn't mind the lack of view at all. Both times our view overlooked a lower building's roof with the back of US buildings off in the distance. In the far distance we could see the Twister sign lit up at night.
We are barely in our room so we'd never pay a premium for pool/water view.
On our 2nd stay we had the room next to our 1st stay.
Sorry I'm at work now and don't recall the room #s. Last time was Jan 08.
I will try to post room #s and photos when I get a chance.

We requested obs view again for our Labor Day weekend stay.
