HRH in early May

Okay, so who's been down to the HRH during the first two weeks of May? My options to book are before our 10 nights at the Polynesian or after. Last time we did a big trip like this we did the HRH first and I kept thinking the whole time "I can't wait to get to WDW". So I was thinking that we should do WDW first and our two nights at the HRH afterwards. This would have us checking in on Tuesday May 10th and checking out Thursday May 11th. The other option was a weekend stay of Sat April 30 - Mon May 2. I also thought checking in the the Polynesian on a Saturday was a better idea than on a Monday. OHHHHH I'm so confused!

So my first question... which stay? the midweek after Disney or the weekend before Disney?

And secondly, how is the crowd levels at both WDW and Universal during the first two weeks of May? Weather?

Thanks in advance!!

The crowd levels at US/ IOA during the week are almost nonexistent, but weekends at IOA are another story. We have been twice the week of May 3-10 and we walked through the Popeye raft area and didn't pass a single person. Since Easter is so early this year, it shouldn't matter which you do first. Enjoy!

First, that's a great time of year to visit Orlando! We've taken our vacation the first or second week of May for the past 10 years. The weather has always been outstanding: upper 80's - lower 90's during the day, and in the lower 70's to upper 60's in the evening. It can be humid, or very dry that time of year. Nothing is set in stone on that. Only one year did we have showers every afternoon around 5:00 (99).

In so far as, staying at the HRH at the begining or at the end of your trip. I'm sure you'll get different opinions. Some people like to stay mid-week, for it is less expensive than the weekend. Others, prefer to stay at US at the end of there vacation because of FOTL and the opulence of their resorts. This way they are not spoil by that, once they move onto WDW. IMO, we like to end our vacation at the, "House of Mouse".

We stayed at the HRH in 03, very cool hotel and a short walk to US, ( 90 seconds) via the gate by the pool. We have our vaction the same time as you this year. We arrive on April 30th and our returning to the PB. My daughter absolutely loves PB but......that's another story.

I hope this has been of some help.

Have a great trip! ::yes::

Thanks so much for the great tips so far! Any and all comments welcome!

After our stay in Orlando we always spend three days with family in Tampa, so our vacation isn't really over when we leave WDW! (I still cry, shhhh!!!)

Anyhow, thanks to the great tips about the nonexistant lines during the week at US, I think we'll go with the HRH after the Polynesian.

Feel free to add ANY comments about visiting Orlando at this time of year. You guys are such a great resource, we're going to Sesame Place in two weeks and I"m having planning anxiety, they have NO SPISboards! <gasp>
