Which do you recommend for the best rates for HRH? Entertainment book or Universal Fan Club?

Which one will allow me to revise my booking to gain further discounts with incurring fees?

As I'm from Australia and this is my first trip to the USA, not sure which method is the most secure (eg credit card info) online, phone or email to book and to ensure a booking has been made. Don't want to turn up on the day and find out I don't have a room!

What are your suggestions? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

have you looked at the annual pass holder rate?? the code is APH and the actuall pass is $180. you get 30% off of the rack rate plus lots of other discounts!

what ever discount you decide to go with just go to www.loewshotel.com and check the prices/dates/ and different codes.

ENT = entertainment book

FAN = universal fan club

APH = prefered annual pass

play around with the codes and see which is the better rate for your dates. if you book on the internet then they wont charge you a deposit ( they say they do, but they dont! ) also, they will send a e-mail conformation to you after you book. you will need a credit or debit card for this.

**** also, the time frame of the discounts being released depends on how far in advance you are planning to go ******

In the past, the Entertainment rate was the way to go, but it was very limited and sold out quickly. Recently, people using this rate have been complaining about being put on the 5th floor (pet floor) and not receiving any welcome gift.

APH seems to be the best idea lately.
And I'd go on the Loews site and sign up for the membership card so you can get a welcome gift. It takes a few weeks to get your card, so sign up now.

Many want that welcome gift at checkin, it's like a prize to most. Some get it using the entertainment rate because they ask and get lucky. On my trip, we used the Entertainment rate. We got no gift or CDs at checkin, although I didn't ask. My advice, use the APH rate and ask about your welcome gift up front.

Wow that's a great discount! Thanks for the tip.

Coming from Australia there will be 4 of us, DH, DD17, DS16 and myself arriving in January. To gain the HRH discount with the APH ticket can I get just one APH and the rest 2 park tickets?

Who would you recommend to purchase the tickets from (eg secure use of credit card)?

yes, you only need 1 Prefered annual pass to get the discount! and as for the rest of your family get the bonus pass tixs for them( 5 days for the price of 2 ) look for it under hot deals on the universal website and order them when you order your AP to save on shipping! ;)

I booked the HRH about two weeks ago, got the confirmation letter in my E-mail, but they never charged my credit card...... will my reservation get canceled at some point thinking that I didn't pay !??! :crazy:

no just keep your conformation email! print it out and take it with you on vacation!;)

They didn't charge my card either until I checked in, then everything went thru.

Be sure to call them a couple weeks before your vacation to make sure your reservation is still on file. Reservations have a way of disappearing from the system with them claiming you called in to do it.

It appears that APH rates are not yet out for HRH for next June. If I book a rack rate room (or AAA rate) now, will I be able to apply APH rates when they become available? This really seems like a pretty good deal since the AP is only about $70 or so more than a 2-day 2-park ticket and I believe I will save at least that much over 2 nights at HRH with the discount (not sure exactly how many nights we are going to stay). What about applying ENT rates to an existing reservation instead of APH? Can you do that? Thx.

HELP!!!

I tried this exact approach for booking a stay in late August 2005. The system keep quoting me the same rates irrespective of what code I put in, and none of those rates look particuarly great (as example, $299 a night for a Deluxe room, which almost sounds like rack rate).

As result, a few questions (apologize in advance if these are "neophyte" level, I've never booked at Universal before):

- Is the pricing I'm seeing now because the dates are far out (e.g., discounts haven't been released yet?)

- If so, does it make sense to go ahead and book online now, and then keep checking over time to see if discounts appear (e.g., can one request a subsequent re-pricing, ergo, when discounts appear have them added to the existing reservation?

- If the answer to both of the above is "yes," what is the process (who do you call and how do you "ask" to get the discount added?)

Any answers to the above appreciated!

the discounts for 2005 arent out yet. keep checking back but dont book yet. if everyone is booked at a rack rate why would they offer all the discounts? they wouldnt! i am not sure when they come out. you might want to call loews and ask. ( and if you find out, please post that info! i think we all are waiting to find out! :) )

yes they will let you call and add the discount code. but not sure if you can change them around ( ie go from APH to AAA to ENT ) but Disney will so i cant imagine that universal wouldnt .
