Can someone explain the beginning of the book to me? The part with the Riddle family death. Are they related to voldemort? please explain to me! i've read this book a hundred times and i still don't get the beginning

Tom Riddle (the son) is Lord Voldermart.

ok, but it said in the book that 3 people died 50 years ago. a mother/father and their son Tom

Yeah - that was He Who Must Not Be Named's father, grandmother and grandfather. After Tom Riddle Sr. left his witch wife, he went back to live with his parents. Witch wife died, Tom Riddle Jr was raised in an orphange. Then Tom Riddle Jr became HWMNBN and returned to kill his father and grandparents.

Also, Tom Riddle, Sr. was a muggle - so Lord Voldemort is "mudblood".

I thought a mudblood someone with two muggle parents...like Hermione? I know that Tom Riddle, Sr. was a muggle but since his wife was a witch Lord Voldemort had one magical parent. So he is "mixed-race" but not a mudblood. Or am I wrong?

A mudblood is either part witch/wizard, part muggle (ie, HWMNBN) OR a witch/wizard with completely muggle parents (ie, Lily Potter and Hermione).
