I would like to know what the authorities do about this. I wonder if they even take threats seriously. Please let us know if they do anything.

There is a big difference in my book between "internet fights and name calling" and actual threats toward a person and especially their children. I would say call the authorities NOW! You never know what kind of whack jobs are out there. I would definatly report it and take whatever steps necessary to protect my family.

When my child is involved there is no such thing as a second chance!

I completely agree with this statement. Whether it's a threat like this or slandering someone's child on a public board because you misinterpretted a story that child's mother told, I think only the most despicable people alive would bring someone else's child into their battles (real life or internet ones).

If your friend has tangible evidence like an E-mail, she should absolutely report it to whatever authorities she can.

I wonder how a person who knows you only from the internet can find out your children's first names? I mean, if you've never posted them, of course. That is one frightening thought.

{Shudder} There are very scary individuals in the world today.

I hope your friend reports this, if for no other reason than to scare off anyone who thinks doing something like that is a joke.

I would report the threat especially since the person knows the address and other pertinent information about the persons family.

a joke it is not! contact someone.....immediately. even jokingly, the authorities won't think it's funny and neither will the sender after they talk to him/her.

I would report it immediately. There would not be a second chance to threaten my kids.
I would take care of this now, so it doesn't have the chance to get worse.
