Has anyone watched the MK fireworks from California Grill?

I am thinking of have dinner at the California Grill on 4th of July and watching the fireworks from there. I have heard that it has a very good view, but does anyone have any first hand accounts of the experience?

Is it really as good as people make it out to be? From some of the photos I've seen, it looks like the fireworks would be really far away.

Our table at CG in March appeared to be looking down on Space Mountain. The eye-level view of the fireworks is a real treat, one you won't find anywhere else. If you aren't sitting next to the window, you can go out to the balcony beside the restaurant. Beautiful evening with fantastic food, I'd recommend it! Diana

Hi karma_cameleon. Welcome to the DIS, I'm really glad you found us. I'm going to move this over to our restaurants board and the veterans over there will tell you all about this :)

I would highly recommend the CG for fireworks. We had a table next to the windows, it's a fantastic view. It is even neat just to watch the castle change colors from up there. The food is some of the best in Disney as well. Their filets are rated some of the best in Orlando. My fiance wants to go back there every trip!

I'm interested in this too. What time should you make your dinner reservations for to ensure you're there for the fireworks?

I have a dinner reservation for 7:45pm to see them. I personally think the best way to see them is to go out onto one of the viewing platforms and watch from there - it is an awesome sight and different to actually watching them from, say, infront of the castle.

We got a PS for Friday, 16 May based on last year's hours, but it seems that FITS isn't scheduled for Fridays in May this year  . Could we just go along for drinks in the bar on a night FITS is scheduled and get to see the fireworks?

Sam - did you change your PS for the Saturday?

I don't think you'll be able to get regular dinner ressies for July 4 at the CG. They're having an event - $159 per person for food and drink.

Thanks everybody.

I just made my reservation for the 4th of July dinner at CG. It was pricey but since I will be on my honeymoon, I figure let's live a little.

For those interested here is what the CM told me.

It costs $159 (tax and tip included) per person.
Dinner lasts from 6:30 to 10:00.
Buffet style with food stations around the restaurant.
There will be a DJ with dancing and games.:jester: :jester:
