How's the Mainstreet Train Station Rehab Going?

Mouseplanet has reported that the Mainstreet train station is under rehad until Dec. Does it spoil the view as you approach MK. How does it affect the park opening ceremony with the characters riding into the station? Lastly, can you still use the lockers?

Thanks (and any pics would be appreciated, too)!

When we were at the Magic Kingdom in June only the left upper side of the station was being rehabed. There is no problem with the lockers. Your view of the station is fine, you can hardly see the work being done.

This is from last Tuesday, August 30th.

so does this mean the train is out of commission??
While I dont have the definitive answer, I am willing to bet that the train is running as normal.

Maybe someone else with a definitive answer can reply but Id be surprised it if wasnt running.

The train is still running and the cast has been told that there will be no impact to train service through the entire rehab.

As for the morning show...it will be modified or canceled when they move to the front side of the station as they are going to be making the Mickey floral smaller and extending the platform that the dancers use. No word yet on alteration, but time will tell on that one. As for now it is still being done every morning (except the early entry morning).

Lockers are still avalaible but you have to go to the far right side (the side where the stroller/wheelchair rental is). As the construction wall has blocked off most of the lower level of the train station.

As for the view from the front, as of right now it is not affected (as you can see from the previous photos). When they do move to the front side of the station they will be using a photo scrim, instead of the green "tarp" pictured in the park side photos. With the photo scrim it is basically a picture of what the station looks like on the covering so that it will still have the same affect from the distance and in photos. They used this in Italy at Epcot when it was under rehab and it was really cool, it really looked perfect for photos.

Can you still sit at the chairs at the top and look out onto mainstreet? I love doing that and will be very disappointed if that section is blocked as well.

Yes, to not completely block access to the trains they are doing the park side of the station in 2 sections. Currently the City Hall side of the station is closed but you can still sit from about the middle of the station over to the Expo hall side. Once that side is complete they will move to the Expo hall side of the station and open the City Hall side. The chairs and tables are still avalaible for you on the side that is not affected.

Thanks for the great info. I didn't think there would be a "ghost" of a chance for such a complete report...;) As always, there are people around here who go out of their way to help out, and it's been appreciated now--and in the past.
