Every time I call howard johnson to see if they have an entertainment rate they want my id #.

I do not have an id number or a book yet, I want to know if it is available so I can book it and get my book later.

59 bucks A night is a steal but why is it such a pain in the butt there has to be a better way.

Im looking at going may 26-31 and also oct 11-15 I have prebooked the desert inn but for 59 bucks and the rave reviews for the hojo I wanted to try to get there.

call the hotel and make sure you ask for in-house reservations. they dont need yr id number to book a room for you.

Make sure you are calling the (714) area code # and hitting the number for in-house reservations. Call during normal business hours in CA and ask for Lorealle. She's the greatest! :goodvibes If you call right now, I bet she's there.

You can also check the rates on line by using SD50 as the promotion code.

I tried using that SD50 code in the promo box, but I always end up getting the regular rate....and the regular rate for May 16th and 17th was $129 a night, certainly wasn't gonna pay that for the HoJo.

Did you happen to see this post?

It may be of some help to those looking for which days ent. rate is avail currently (these do sell out).

VegasMike, you can also request a Disboards 15% off discount which is available anytime to Disboarders, just ask for it! :)

Ok the sd50 code worked online so I can book from there. Do I really need a entertainment card if I do best place to get it.

How far away is the hojo from disneyland is it a good walk or not bad. You guys talk about how great it is so Im trying to get the inside scoop what to do and what not to do.

You will need to purchase an entertainment book (for your local area) at entertainment.com or some bookstores like Barnes & Noble sell them. You will need the card from the front of the book. They may or may not ask to see your card at check-in. I wouldn't want to risk not having it with me.

The walk is anywhere from 7-10 minutes to the esplanade, depending on your speed. I like to cross Harbor at Manchester and walk on the Disneyland side of Harbor to avoid the crowds. Then I cut through the taxi area and into the area where the shuttles drop off.

Ok let me ask you guys this for 5 nights at the hojo it comes to 336.00 total.

I have the desert inn booked for the same 5 nights it comes to 383.00 total.

The desert inn is right across the street so is it worth it to stay at the hojo and walk a little I do have a 3 yr old so I want your thoughts and comments thanks.

Thats for responding on calling the in house reservations thank you by the way how much is the entertainment book.

Just my 2 cents, but I've stayed at both.

If you want a 10 minute walk, very good customer service, free internet (and computer use in the lobby), nice big clean rooms, and a nice pool facility, go with Hojos.

If you want a 5 minute walk, continental b-fast (danishes, toast, oranges), a small indoor pool that really smells of chlorine, and marginal rooms (compared to Hojos), then go with Desert Inn.

You'll be fine at either, it just depends of what is important to you.

I've stayed at both as well and prefer HoJo's. The last time we stayed at Desert Inn my DD who was 4 at the time had trouble sleeping as the walls are a bit thin and we could hear people coming and going at all times of the day/night and our next door neighbors....I've never had this problem the multiple times I've stayed at HoJo's

Hi! I have a 3 year old myself, and we have HoJo booked for his birthday in May. We stayed there last September for two days after a 4 day stay at Paradise Pier, and we liked HJ better. I liked the walk from HJ better than from PP (more straightforward, with no stores to catch his eye), and the value was much better than PP's relative value, in my opinion.

I recently stayed at the Carousel, which is close to Desert Inn, but instead of trying one of those places right at the crosswalk, I'm going with HJ just because I know it and know I like it.

It will really be up to you, since the rates are so close to each other!

I noticed in your user info that you are in Utah? There's one Utah book on the Entertainment website (entertainment.com) and right now they are having a sale: "$10 Off + $25 Restaurant Certificate + 29 Cent Shipping!" Your book right now would be $15. I do not know what discounts are in the book that you could use at home, but I know for my area, there is $20 worth of coupons for Safeway grocery store, which means that over there year I'm coming out $5 ahead, even if all I use from the book are those coupons. Nice! But I don't know what else there might be in the Utah book for you.

Because the next question is always "don't I need the Anaheim area book?", no, you don't need the Anaheim book for the HJ discount, and they don't seem to have any discounts for places right around Disneyland in that book. :)

Good luck with your decision! 5 nights for under $400 is really wonderful in the DLR area! :)

I'm so excited! ....Just booked hojos for Dec. 5-12 at the entertainment rate! I've been checking for weeks and some of my dates do not show up at that rate on the regular reservation section at their website, but they DO show up on the "board" section where it lists the available dates for the ent. rates. So, I am so glad that Lorealle put that site up because otherwise, I wouldn't have known that those dates were available. :) I would definitely recommend checking the board site in addition to the reservation site.
The Candlelight Processional should be on Dec. 6th and 7th this year, so if anyone is looking for a room on that weekend (as I was), it is now open at the ent. rate. :)

I just used the code for Memorial Day weekend and it worked! Thank you very much!!!

I was able to book a "Disney View" at HOJO through mousesavers for $109 per night. My family of four will be there the first week of June.

I had originally booked June 2-7 at the Entertainment rate through the website in early Jan. We decided to add two additional days so I tried the website (no go), called main HoJo line where CS suggested I call HoJo Anaheim directly because the rate he was seeing was higher than the $59. Called the hotel directly and she added May 31 and June 1 at the $59 rate. :cool1:

Try calling the hotel directly and if that still doesn't work, keep checking online as your dates get closer...maybe something will open up! :thumbsup2

I have the Disney view room for 79 a night with the sd50 code you way want to re-book!

That room type is available for $74 a night at the entertainment book rate for June 3 - 12. There is also a discount (15% I think) for disboard readers. If the ent. rate isn't available for some of your days, you can ues the disboard rate for the other days. Either way, you should be able to save some $. :)
