How would you use 4 one-day, non-upgradeable hoppers?

You are perhaps only thinking of how you would use these tickets, while forgetting the VAST number of folks who go to Orlando for WORK trips.Thousands of folks visit the area for work every day. Some companies allow employees to tack a day onto their trips if the employee is willing to pick up the hotel/food costs. Swapping airfare by one day is usually free for the business in terms of cost, AND a perk employees love to get.

Still more folks go to WDW each year for weekend weddings, to see family, to visit central FL area for a host of non-WDW reasons. WDW is only an hour from Daytona, and only 90minutes from Tampa. A number of folks would be happy to tack a day onto an existing visit to FL whether they are going for the Daytona 500 or the beach.

Very true. Just this morning a former co-worker emailed me because she and her family are going on a last minute trip to WDW this weekend with her daughter's lacrosse team. They'll spend most of their time watching the daughter play, but may hit one park on Friday before the tournament begins. This type of ticket would be great for her family of four. She wanted my advice on which park to visit considering they probably wouldn't ride any of the rides. I had a hard time wrapping my brain around flying across the country from Portland to visit WDW for the first time and not riding any of the rides. I refrained from any commentary about her decision and just answered her question.

My first choice would be (if you physically have the tickets) to sell them to someone who could use them. There are many people who are there for other reasons and want to do a day at Disney while they're there. If you can't do that, I'd personally do a 4-day weekend and do 2 days at Disney with my wife and 2 days at Universal or another park. Using them for anything longer than a 3 day trip doesn't make sense. Kind of surprised that's what Disney donates. Non-upgradeable 1-day tickets for a school (which presumably will go to a family wanting to make a family trip) are not very useful. Almost would convince me to make that trip a Universal trip and just do one day at Disney rather than the opposite way around.

I've gotten these tickets for a number of school fundraisers that I've helped organize. We always put them in our silent auctions. Honestly, the tickets sell themselves and we always list the terms and conditions so people know they can't be upgraded and that they will expire. We have never gotten more than the value of a four-day base for the tickets. Yes, savvy travelers with internet access at their fingertips to look up ticket prices during the event learn pretty quickly what to bid, which to me, is fine. I certainly don't want anyone feeling like they got ripped off even if the money is for charity. If you can get a short hotel stay, house or timeshare in Orlando to go with the tickets, great. If not, I wouldn't worry too much about it. We've never had a problem auctioning them off in about the $300 range. May not be the "value" of the tickets, but it's $300 more than what we had before!
