How would you strategize this day?

Background is that it is day 3 of a 6 day trip, staying at the poly CL. Traveling with my 10 yo ds to celebrate his birthday, and his 8 yo sister. This is our one day to go to AK, but our must do's there are very but absolute must do's-- Nemo, FOTLK, and Kali. We will not be riding EE and the Safari is not a must do. We don't do the trails because dd doesn't handle the heat well. We will be having dinner at Jiko after the last FOTLK show of the day.

What I can't decide is how to use the rest of the day. Day is 9/5, crowd level 5, but not recommended MK day. I waffle between rope dropping MK, park hopping to AK for the afternoon, and then calling it an early night after dinner OR sleeping in, hitting AK around lunchtime, and then going to MK after dinner and staying late for EMH. I currently have FP set for the evening at MK.

This would be a lot easier if my son hadn't insisted that his birthday dinner be at Jiko! ;)

Advice?

I would hit Safari first - even though it is not a must do. I would loop around the park through Asia, then on to Nemo I would spend some time in Dinoland USA, then go hit FOLK, then exit the park.

We have done this same plan (in Sept - adding in 3-4 EE rides + eating lunch at Flame Tree BBQ), and been out of the park by 2:00.

If you arrive at AK at about noon without any FP+, you could have an unpleasantly long wait for Kali.

Dd has a das that we would use to get a return time for kali.

I just don't think if we rope drop that we can do 8 hrs of ak in terms of just filling the time and in terms of heat. Since we are eating dinner at jiko I would prefer to stay until park close.

I think you could do all day at AK with a visit back to the resort for a few hours in the afternoon........

Quite honestly, I don't put much stock in the 'not recommended park' suggestions. We personally always have, including our trip this past week, gone to whatever park we wanted on whatever day we wanted especially if it is in the morning. We often follow EMH and it worked fine for us. As a matter of fact, out of curiosity I would look at the wait times in the parks we 'should have' been in, and they were a nightmare - it almost seemed that so many people now follow these recommendations, that it has a reverse effect on the parks - the 'not recommended' park that we were in had shorter wait times. Our park style is rope drop, out of the parks by 1:00, return after an early dinner - so maybe that helps.
