Waste of money; okay; good; great; awesome??

Kaboom
The new "scrubber" Magic Eraser
No-Fume Easy-Off Oven Cleaner
Windex Wipes (Can they only be used on glass?)

Some type of "dusting" wipe that could be used on most any surface - that the dust will actually stick to and not fly around the room.. (Please specify..)

Any cloth furniture/upholstery cleaners.. (Please specify the name/brand of the ones you think are the easiest to use and work the best..)

Any of the plug-in room air fresheners.. (Please specify the name/brand of the ones you think work best and last the longest..)

I need to go shopping soon for some cleaning supplies and I'm looking for ones that really get the job done and are worth the money.. Some of the things I've used in the past are no longer available or just don't seem to work as well..

Thanks! :goodvibes

Kaboom - Great

I also Love a new Pledge Fabric Sweeper for pet hair pick up. I use it when Toby may rub on the couch.
I also use it after he rides in the car
It costs about $5.00

What surfaces do you use the Kaboom on?

I have found that Kaboom works GREAT in my bathroom, but apparently a lot depends on just what type of minerals are in your water. I recommended it to my DD in Connecticut and it did not work well there at all! Like they say, "location, location, location"!

Kaboom = AWESOME!

Thanks! :goodvibes

We have horrible hard water in NJ, and this stuff gets my tubs and shower nice and clean :)!!

Kaboom - crap. For tougher jobs, I'd get Bar Cleaner's Friend or Comet...but I don't let things get to the point where they have to be scrubbed.
The new "scrubber" Magic Eraser - good
Windex Wipes (Can they only be used on glass?) - blah. I prefer regular Windex and some paper towel.

Some type of "dusting" wipe - I use the old-fashioned yellow rags. Worked for grandma, worked for mom and work fine for me, too.

I buy like every single new cleaning product/gadget that comes out. Like a guy who likes tools or a kid who likes cereal, they've got me. I'm buying it. :) I REALLY like those little blobs that stick to the inside of your toilet that are made by Scrubbing Bubbles. ::yes:: Also the squirty-hang-from-the-shower-head thing made by the Scrubbing Bubbles people, forget the name of it.

But I don't generally waiver from my regular cleaning supplies. Windex, Bleach, Scrubbing Bubbles, Pledge, Clorox Clean-Up (Or Mr. Clean), Lysol kitchen cleaner (if I can find the II one. I don't care for this new III one...you have to read the small print to even know it is different, but it is.) I get the Magic Eraser, but rarely have use for it.

I use Goo Gone a lot for weird stuff...but cleaning is not its intended purpose and there was a thread about how you shouldn't use it for that purpose or you'll blow up the whole State or something...but I do.

I use o-cello sponges, the green scrubby sponges (not generic, they fall apart), and cloth diapers to wash just about everything.

I have one of those rainbow dusting things that I like a lot, but do most of my dusting with rags and old diapers.

If I could only have three things, I'd pick Windex, Scrubbing Bubbles and Bleach.

LOVE  Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. I use it on everything from my coffee pot to my white tennis shoes. It is great for getting out stains. I got some paint on the kitchen floor 2 years ago, nothing would take it out, but Magic Eraser did it. It isn't really for general cleaning up, it's for crayons on your wall, stains on a kitchen floor or counter, it works good on leather like shoes and purses to spruce them up. I don't know how it works, but it's wonderful.

I don't like Windex wipes. They are okay for a small job, but you have to use too many for actual windows. I keep them in the bathroom now just to do the mirrors, but I won't buy any more once that one is gone.

I use Kaboom on my tub and shower walls.

I also use Oxyclean in the wash, It is awesome

I just used my "Magic Eraser" today to clean my refrigerator and kitchen cabinents (I don't have wood ones, they are some type of weird plastic coated particle board that I HATE). It worked great ... all the stains and ground in dirt are gone. It also takes scuff marks off of walls and floors. You don't even have to scrub very hard!

I don't like those plug-in scent things .... they are all way too strong and give me a headache.

I have one of those Scrubbin' Bubbles shower cleaners in my shower, and it seems to work pretty well.

I have a wide assortment of cleaning products, but my tried and true favorites are as follows:

Fabuloso Cleaner: I love the smell!

Windex in the bottle

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser

Lysol

Bleach

I worship at the altar of Kaboom :worship: I adore EVERY Kaboom product. They have a toilet cleaner now that foams and requires no scrubbing if you are a regular cleaner. For lighter, everyday jobs Soft Scrub w/Bleach has a new line that includes kitchen, toilet and bath cleaners that are excellent too.

Screw the wipes of any kind. Waste of money IMO. With both a dog and cat, I do have lysol wipes in various rooms for their little messes. One Costco 3 pack lasts me a whole year. If you MUST have this stuff, get them at the Dollar Store.

Best thing for wiping/dusting ANY dry surface: Swiffer Sweeper Cloths! The kind meant for the floor sweeper work best. Crumbs on the counter, computer screen, daily dusting, cat hair on the a/c grate...endless uses. I buy them in bulk at Costco. I also get the 2 sided sponges with scrubbie on one side and sponge on the other. I get blue for dishes (light non scratch) and the green and yellow for general cleaning. I reuse them by washing them in the dishwasher and I get microfiber and chamois cloths in bulk there as well in the auto section. Split with a friend it's pretty cheap to invest in good products that way.

Sorry, I DESPISE the Magic Eraser. I hate that it crumbles and shrinks. I don't think it works so great after the 1st use.

I use comet scouring powder in my kitchen sinks and tubs, lysol/clorox wipes for everyday wipe downs in the bathroom sinks and toilets( I have 4 kids so this is a must!) I also like the new stamp on gel for the toilet bowl, scrubbing bubbles makes this. We have three toilets( 2full one half) so this makes daily maintenance easy and I use the scrubbing bubbles toilet brush system that you flush the "used" part to after cleaning, love it! I use pledge multi surface dusting spray(rainshower sent, the lavendar one was too musky) for general wipe down of furniture/TV, again 4 kids and we live in the midwest where pollen seems to land and stick to EVERYTHING! And now it is planting season so the farmers are out stirring the earth! For my bi-monthly dusting I really like just good ol' lemon oil/orange oil and two rags, one to apply and one to rub down the "gloss'. Again, 4 kids so I swear by magic eraser to get off crayon, marker, etc from walls and it even got sharpie off of my wood floors!
Mr. clean has new multi surface cleaners with febreeze scents that I love for wiping down kitchen counter, appliances and table. I even use it to wipe down the doors/door knobs. Smells great, light scents that just freshen without overpowering.
I want to try the new pet hair removers but have not

Love febreeze spray to freshen fabric/curtains etc. We have a dog and two cats. Speaking of pets, Odo ban pet is great to remove pet stains and freshen. Our dog is a new addition and he(luke skywalker) is only 9/10 weeks old and we are still house training. its a protein based cleaner/freshener that fully removes the stain/scent.

I use a microfiber mop and spray made by Bona for my solid floors and my kirby to vacuum. The Bona doesnt leave the streaks, watermarks or sticky residue that many others do. I also have a dust buster for quick crumb clean up and the kids like to use it for this, too! LOL

Microfiber cloths that you wash and re-use are the best for all cleaning. And decent sponge, o-cello, is great for scrubbing tough areas. And I have a dishwasher but hand wash some item sand love the little wands that you fill up with soap and it disperses as you scrub/clean. Dawn and Palmolive are my two fav dish washing liquids. Ivory dish soap can remove oil stains from your drive way with a stiff scouring brush-FYI.

I dont have a favorite shower/bath cleaner but I usually use scrubbing bubbles or arm and hammer brands for soap scum/hardwater.

Cant wait to read what others prefer :surfweb:

that Pledge Fabric Sweeper works great!! bets thing I have ever used for the cat's hair! :thumbsup2

I have a cloth that you only use water on to wash windows. Wet the cloth, wring it out, and wipe the glass (SS appliances, windows, mirrors car windows). It really works and works great. Don't have a name for them though--my mom sold them for a fund raiser of Relay for Life and she has sold hundreds for $5. a piece! If I come up with a name, I'll be sure to let you know!

I am not one to get excited about cleaning products, but I LOVE the works toilet cleaner- and it's cheap too!

Also, a great thing to use with windex on windows is plain old newspaper. Sounds weird but even professional car detailers do it.

The only thing I can comment on is the plug in air freshener. My favorite is the Wallflower unit from Bath & Body Works. They last much longer than any Glade or Air Wick unit I have ever used(and I've used them all). I usually get 6-8 weeks out of one refill. My preferred scent is Creamy Caramel. Everybody that comes over says how nice it smells. I stock up twice a year during their semi annual sale, which happens to be going on right now. $4 for the starter kit, which includes the 1 diffuser and 1 fragrance bulb or $4 for the refill kit, which includes 2 fragrance bulbs. They have a ton of scents so something is sure to please your senses. I like the Creamy Eggnog(holiday scent), Bartlett Pear, Warm Vanilla Sugar...pretty much anything that smells like food.lol.

Thanks for all the replies so far.. Here are the specifics of what I am looking for:

No-Fume Oven Cleaner (I've done all the "at-home" stuff with no success.. Not a self-cleaning oven..)

The reason I asked about the Windex Wipes - was wondering if I could wipe off the tv, computer screen, etc. with them.. The liquid "runs" down the front too quickly and I don't want it getting into any of the electrical components..

The Kaboom I was mainly interested in what kind of surfaces you could use it on.. I normally use 409 (for washing walls and such) and this awesome stuff my son-in-law found on the internet in 2006.. It's called "Extra", but they don't sell it anymore.. We ordered the last 24 bottles that they had..:thumbsup2 Was basically wondering if Kaboom was another "wow" product..

Some kind of dusting wipe - to "grab" the dust off of the outside area of the tv's; VCR; painted wood furniture, etc..

I really want to (for lack of a better word) "wash" my recliner and single-size sofa bed.. What kind of upholstery cleaner would I use? Is there a dry foam? Would I have to use something "wet" and then wait for it to dry?

Bathroom is already under control..

Love the Magic Eraser - just wanted to know if the new "scrubber" one worked better..

Plug-in air fresheners that don't cost an arm and a leg and then run out in no time flat.. A light scent - nothing overpowering..

Keep those suggestions and reviews coming!! :thumbsup2

Thanks! :goodvibes

Oh my!! You're killing me with that link - LOL.. Sooo many to chose from - and great prices!! Now let me ask you this - say I purchase a plug-in starter kit - then can I buy a bunch of different scented "refills" and use it in that same starter kit? If so, YOU will have just cost me a TON of money!!!

$4 ????? Unreal!!! Thanks so much for sharing!! :goodvibes

Oh, I know. Their scents are awesome! And yes, you can use different refill scents in the same diffuser as long as it is the Wallflower brand. I stock up on my favorites but usually get 1 or 2 new scents to try them out...especially when they are this cheap. I use 2 diffusers in my 1800 sf home and I have been using them for over 2 years. One of my biggest pet peeves with the Glade and Air Wick brand of plug in air fresheners is that they change the design every 6 months or so. So, I was constantly having to replace the whole unit which is such a waste.

Oh, and if you are interested, I can send you a $10 off $40 coupon that is good for in store only...but it expires tomorrow, 6/21. If you are interested, PM me your email address.

ETA: I just found that the sale ends tomorrow, 6/21 at 11:59pm edt. So, hurry!
