How would you design the Bed Configurations per Room in a Future DVC Resort ?

Hi Everyone

Have you ever wished there was alternate bed configuration setups in the DVC resorts?

I sometimes wish I could book a 2 bedroom Condo with 2 queen beds in one bedroom, and a Queen Bed in the 2nd bedroom with stacked bunk beds.

I wouldn't try to pack more than 8 people in the 2 bedroom configuration, it is just the desire to get everyone off the couches in the living room.

What is your Dream Fantasy of a Disney DVC Club Bed Configuration ?

Ironically when you have SNORERS in your vacation party, no Configuration other than one SNORER per room can make everyone happy !
I have tried two SNORERs per room, but they make each other miserable too !

Well, if it's the Contemporary, I'd like to see them go really futuristic and have the beds slide/fold into the wall and open with the push of a button... :teeth:

I would prefer the option of a 2 queen 1 bedroom. Make it a separate category so those who want 1 king could still have it. If you're a couple, a king is nice but when you are there with friends or relatives, a 2 bed would be better.

I remember a bed like that in a movie with Dudley Moore.

Dudley Moore pushed a button, and it became an Instant Disco Bedroom and the Bed Came out of the Wall !

1 BR sleep 6 instead 4...have 2 queen beds on the BR instead of the King.

I think the 1 BR need a major change with the sleeping arrangements.

I don"t like the fact that studio AND 1BR sleep 4. I would have like the use the LR stay as a LR instead of a BR for the kids. I would put the kids in the 2nd bed of the BR and stay up late in the LR using the couch!!

I wouldn't change a thing at OKW. I love the second bedroom/studio with two queen beds. But don't touch my master bedroom. That's why they call it the MASTER bedroom and not the FAMILY bedroom. One king is all I want in that room.

Too many options and it only makes it harder to get that room you want. I would be one unhappy camper if I got stuck with two queens in the master bedroom.

We've had this discussion several times before, but that's ok. Most that post come up with things that would work well for their specific situation. Things like 2 queens in the master, a murphy bed or two pull outs in the LR,bunk beds in an alcove all come to mind. But the reality is simply that DVC must have some consistency with the other resorts and for trading purposes with II. And even if they did come up with something else, espect it to cost a lot more points. Say a 1 BR sleep 6 would likely be only slighlty less than a 2 BR, certainly more than halfway between a 1 BR and 2 BR now.

Making the master bedroom similar to or the same as a studio wouldn't be a bad idea. That way the studios would get hot tubs and you have a very flexible layout in terms of studio, one bedroom, two bedroom. You'd wind up with more connecting and fewer dedicated units in this scenario. If the hot tub winds up only in one studio then you could have standard studios and master studios, standard one bedrooms and master one bedrooms.

...And I'm sure this is the exact reason DVC would never do this.

In any case changing the master bed over to a queen bed with a double sofa or a futon style sofa wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. Or leave it a king and reduce the humongous size of the bathroom.

How about a king bed + sleeper sofa in a studio, instead of queen bed + sleeper sofa?

DH and I are tall people, and we have a king bed at home for this reason. We try to get accomodations with a king bed if at all possible, but if just he and I are going on a quickie trip, I'd rather not have to use points on a 1 BR, so it would be great if they had some studios with a king bed.

I have other ideas, but this is number one on that list.

You are right on Mrs. Nick. My husband and I also would prefer to use studios, but we really want the king bed. It would be so great to save some points when just the two of us come down for a few days - LIKE THIS WEEKEND FOR EE!!!

The big change that could easily be done is the same as many of the Marriott studios. They have a King plus pullout and dishes and silverware. All aspects that would greatly enhance the studios and would easily be workable, even in retrofiting the existing studios, at least to a degree.

I'd prefer the two queens in the master bedroom of a 1BR. My DD is still young and goes to bed early. It would be nice to put her in there to bed instead of the pullout.

For the studio I'd like to see it like some of the hotels with a small half wall divider dividing the pullout from the king bed --- again for hte same reasons.

I agree.....hypothetically this would be nice (and work better for my family). We've always traveled with 5-8 over the years and required a 2 bedroom. Now that my oldest is in college, he's just not as interested in WDW trips anymore. This year we're planning dh, myself and my 2 dd's. I figured I could save points and go with a 1 bedroom, but neither of my dd's wants to sleep on a pullout. So it looks like my options are either an OKW studio because of the 2 queen beds (will miss the kitchen/w&d/jacuzzi) or a 2 bedroom for 4 people.....
Next thing ya know, each of these "princesses" will want their own bedroom.....then I'll be booking Grand Villas for a party of 4 :lmao:

i would of have a studio having a washer and dryer say you pay about 3 points more for night just for the washer and dryer.

I wish the studios had king beds instead of queen beds, for the sake of my husband. I am not easy to sleep with in anything smaller than king. Actually, even in the king I end up spreading out over more than half the bed in my sleep. We are tall people, and my long limbs have a lot of reach.

NO, NO, NO! Don't change a thing at OKW! I would HATE not having a king in the master. It's the reason we always get a 1 bedroom when it is just the two of us, because we need the king bed. I would like to see a Murphy bed for use instead of the sofa beds though.

I wish ALL the resorts had two queens in the second bedroom instead of that couch. I also love the king bed in the master and would hate for that to change. I want both my kids to have REAL BEDS, not those awful pull out things. I know that some people love the couch, but it has always bugged me that Disney started the thing with the couch when they built BWV. Maybe they could have some of both in all the resorts to make eveyone happy. I realize that any new resorts probably won't have two beds in the second bedroom, but I'm still hoping. We bought into DVC in 1991 with the knowledge that there would be two beds in the second bedroom and I hope this never changes at OKW.

The only thing I'd change is to add a pull out couch or love seat to the master bedroom of the 1 and 2 bedroom. Would be nice to book a 1 bedroom and put my son to sleep on the pull out in the bedroom, leaving the living room for my wife and me. As it is now we book 2 bedrooms for the 3 of us. Sometimes we cram into a 1 bedroom, putting our son in the living room at bed time and retiring to the MB. Sometimes this has worked out OK because the balcony was off the MB. This happened at least once when at BCV. Good post. I do think the design and layout could be better. Keep the King in the master however.
