How would you describe your family and who enjoys your dvc memership

We are in our 40's, no kids. We sometimes travel alone. We also sometimes travel with a large group, like 15-25 people, in which case another couple and a single and DH & I will stay in a 2BR. Most recently we have travelled with DSIL and DBIL and stayed in a 2BR.

My four year old and I are the Disney fanatics in the house. I grew up going to Disney at least every other year always staying in delux so DVC is great.

We are taking DH entire family to BCV next March. They have never been so I can't wait to see their faces! We have really maxed our points for this trip but it will be worth it.

I am 32
DH is 36
Julia is 4 and Matt is 2--it's usually just the 4 of us(started with the 2 of us then the 3 of us..we're stopping at 4!;) )
Once when Julia was 1, we invited my 2 girlfriends to come down for the first half of our vacation-that was great, we had traveled with them often in the past.
Last year, I took my mom to the BCV for a long weekend. That was wonderful-she had never been before and it was nice to get away, just the two of us.
She has an open invitation to come with us whenever she wants, but as she and my dad are building a new house this summer, I'm pretty sure she won't be coming with us in October..though we did tell her she is invited.:D

Me and DH are 37 (he turns 38 tomorrow).

DS is 5
DD is 4

(they are not quite thirteen months apart).

For our first trip down we took my MIL and her sister. My MIL is nearing 70 - and while she is still is excellent health and shape, we felt there was no guarentee that would last. That and are chilcren are still at the completely awed age that is so fun to watch. So, while the selfish part of me wanted our first DVC trip to be just "us," (especially since our first trip with kids had involved my parents), the unselfish side won out (and I'm glad it did).

Great thread!

kids - working on it ;)

We haven't traveled to WDW since joining DVC, but our travel friends of the past have varied. Sometimes friends, sometimes family, sometimes just the 2 of us (why oh why didn't we join DVC sooner
 )

Our first trip home won't be until 2006. We only bought 150 points, will need to bank and borrow etc. to maximize points, as there will be 10 adults and, as of now, 5 children on this trip (all family).

We usually visit WDW every two to three years in either May or October (we went in May this year). To allow some of our family members to experience DVC, we decided to skip (the horror  ) a couple of years to save the points. I think our 2004 points are going to a friend (also a DVC member). We are, however going to Vero in April to stay at a relatives condo. I am sure I can swindle a day or two to get to the parks.;)

DH is 59 and I am 56 and we are new members of DVC, and we look forward to spending lots of time there with family and friends. On this upcoming trip we're meeting friends from Florida and going to MVMCP with them, it's becoming a tradition with us, well, this will be 2 years in a row!:D

DS, 29 and DDiL are new parents. Megan is not yet 1, and there's a new baby coming in January. We have to wait a bit before they are ready to travel, but we look forward to the future. Other DS,26 is in Venezuela working, he hasn't been able to come home yet, so his trips are in the future too.

Meanwhile, my mom will turn 85 next year, and we're looking forward to renting a few rooms for family and friends to join us to celebrate. Mom loves WDW and was our companion when we went to MNSSHP this Halloween, it was our last stay in the Dolphin! We're just waiting for that 11 month BWV BW view to open up!:D

We, too, are blessed with family and friends who will join us. Everyone was happy for me when we added on with VWL, DH keeps asking if I want more points for Christmas!

This is a great thread!

We haven't had the joy of visiting our DVC home yet, but we intend to visit about once a year in early December (if we get in). That's the only time DH can take off work. Our children are so young and we believe this is a perfect time to start our DVC traditions.

Thanks for asking.

DH and I are both 51, emptynesters. Four kids altogether (his and mind situation) ages 32, 29, 24 and 21. Including step-grandkids, we have a total of 8 with one more on the way.

Most vacations are just the two of us. Occasionally, we take a couple of grandkids. Next May we're also taking DS and DDIL, one DGD and her friend. On the trips when it's just the two of us, we don't usually go to the parks. We golf and do other stuff in the area.

DH and I are both in our 40's. DS is 13, DD1 is 9, and DD2 is 6.

We have taken DH's family (MIL, FIL, SIL, BIL with his three sons) over Thanksgiving week. We have also taken two other families (12 of us; 7 kids and 5 adults) in a grand villa at OKW.

In Thanksgiving 2004, we are taking DH family again. This time, BIL has a new wife and stepdaughter who have never been to WDW. It should be a lot of fun.

We so far have had one trip home. August 17-23 to Beach Club Villas. We had my parents, my two brothers, and my two BILs (they are a couple). All in a two bedroom and one studio.
:crowded: (I love my family, really I do, but after a few days it was really too much closeness. From now on, my family gets their own space!)
Now, we have a trip planned over Easter break for just the four of us, a studio at OKW. Then in June-July we are going again with my parents and two BILs. This time we are getting three studios, so we aren't stepping on toes. Anytime we go to WDW, we invite my parents to join us. We live 1500 miles apart, so WDW is a nice meeting ground.
It makes us feel good that we can treat family to such nice accomodations.
Our long term plans include banking and borrowing in order to treat 24 of our closest friends and family to a great stay for our 15 anniversary. We plan on renewing our vows at WDW.
I love that we are able to do this!!!!

Have sent family to WDW on points-they loved it.
Usually vacation with DWs Sis and BIL-also DVC members.

Irony-We rented points for a family Thaksgiving trip this year. Rented from Paul Kilgore and family-who rented their points due to wifes pregnancy and no trips planned.
Well, my wife then becomes pregnant (how does that happen, anyone?). So, we send our family anyway and enjoy a peaceful Thanksgiving at home with our new princess. Moral of the story-be careful renting points from pregnant people-it appears to be contagious! :teeth:

It's been just us so far, except for a couple of nights sharing a 2BR with a family whose daughter is my DD's friend. They happened to be going to WDW last Spring break, but staying off-site. It was fun to visit the parks with them for three days and see them through newbie's eyes. After they left, we did our usual relaxed DVC vacation.

I have tried and tried to get my DB's family to go with us. DN and DD are very close. They keep turning me down, I guess it's the cost of passes and airfare. They have money, but are used to budget vacations. Hoping they will eventually let DN go with us if I pay for everything.

DH is a new granddad. So maybe in a couple of years, DSS, DIL, and DGD will join us. That will be fun!

We've only been members 1.25 years. Just had our 2nd trip home, this time just the 4 of us. First trip grandma joined us.

Future trips include friends and family. We're still relatively new to WDW. This past trip was DH and DD's 4th and DS's 3rd trip and my 5th. But I think we are definitely hooked.

DH (me) is the big disney fan - we went in March 03 for 3 nights just "to check it out" at WL - when I walked into WL, I stopped for a good 5 minutes and just looked around the lobby and thought I was home. My favourite parts of WDW are Frontierland and Epcot FW at night.

We have not looked back since and are now DVC owners

DS#1 loves the parks and attractions

DW likes the fact that I am now dedicated to vacations on a regular basis and that WDW/VB are in Florida (nice climate and safe) - she liked OKW a lot on the last stay as she found it relaxing

We are hooked until 2042

thanks

We are both 64 and have been vacation club members for 8 years next month. Both of us are certified first children nerds and we love WDW because neither of us ever learned to play. When we are at WDW there isn't anything else to do but play so we have a great time.

While we were at WDW the time we bought our DVC membership our daughter met a cast member who is now our son-in-law and the father of our grandson.

Our 40 year old son, another certified first child nerd, and true to the family tradition, is still in school finishing up a residency in radiology at WVU and has gone with us to WDW every chance he gets. In September he bought his own DVC membership.

If we don't get to WDW and OKW at least twice a year we go into severe withdrawal. Even our family doctor is a WDW fanatic and I had to schedule a surgery last year around our Disney trip, the surgeon's Disney trip, and the family physician's Disney trip.

No kids except for 11 of the 4-legged variety (9 dogs, 2 cats). Just joined DVC this year, so have only enjoyed one trip on points so far (just DH and I).

However, whenever we go on vacation my mother comes to stay with the herd. (She and my stepfather winter in Orlando, the rats! No snowmobiling trips for us, ever.) This year to thank her I gave her tickets to La Nouba for stepfather and her, and tickets to the Space Center. Just this morning I decided that I would offer them a couple of days at Hilton Head each year on their way down or back from Orlando.

Also, the software I support just started having their annual conferences in Orlando, so I may offer some days to a friend of mine who sometimes goes to the conference, the next time she goes (if she takes her family and makes a vacation out of it).

We'll also be renting our points every now and then because joining DVC has persuaded DH that we really CAN take a nice vacation each year (even if it's not always to WDW).
