How would you define your fellow Disboarders? As friends, digital buddies, acquaintances, or some other term?

Disboard buddies to Disboard foes. Just kidding, I have no real foes on here, but I do have some good sparring partners. :thumbsup2

There are a few who we've made friends IRL, see each other, have taken vacations with each other, get lunch, dinners, do all sorts of things with each other. We're truly really good friends who talk nearly every day as a group.

I think one of the things we most appreciate about each other is while we have common interests (mostly Disney and some of us Universal and then random other things) there are so many other things we can talk about, share with each other with, etc and it's those things that we don't have in common but introduce each other on that also make the friendship great. We're always there for each other as well.

This was one of the first places I explored when I first got on the internet. I lurked for quite a while before ever signing up and posting. I'd imagine it's like any other social group, some get along and some not so much. I've really enjoyed learning from others, learning about others and befriending a few. I get a look into other lifestyles that I've never been exposed to and it's fascinating to me to learn about how others live. I really enjoy my time here just taking it all in.

Pedantic!

ETA: Sorry, I was in such a rush to answer the question that I didn’t take time to read the first comment. I’d like to change my answer. There’s one DISer I’d consider an actual friend (you know who you are) and everyone else falls somewhere on the spectrum of “could probably be friends IRL” to “I’d steer clear of them IRL just like I do online.” Collectively I call that “strangers on a forum.”

I'd say buddies. It's fascinating to me to take a step back and think about it, because I don't know any of you IRL. But yet the bond feels strong.

That's so great! You mentioned meeting for meals -- do they live near you then?

Yeah it's how we all decided to meet in person :) It started with me and another person then grew with another couple, then another, then another. We have met as a group here another DISer couple several years ago but for medical reasons on their side we haven't seen them really since.

In spring 2019 one moved to Orlando and then in late 2020 one of the couples moved down there as well but we've been able to still get physically together either them coming up here (one still has a relative up here) or us going down there for one reason or another.
