How will you be celebrating on Independence Day this year?

As a kid, I remember more excitement for the 200th anniversary, and I am feeling very underwhelmed for the 250th anniversary.

What do you plan to do to celebrate?

DH and I leave for a cruise on July 10th, so I am looking for something easy. DH does not like big crowds. We are in our mid-50s with adult children but no grandchildren. I would prefer not to stay at home, but that would absolutely be his preference.

I'll be at the animal shelter comforting them as much as I can with all the fireworks going on. It certainly doesn't work with all of them but it seems to at least make them a bit less stressed. Either way it's a good reason to get in a big pile with them where we play and have fun and then try to sleep if it's possible.

For the second year in a row, our community fireworks show has been canceled. Last year, so they could renovate the community center where it was held. This year because the renovation is 6 months behind schedule although they haven't worked on it in three months. No facts here but I suspect there is a dispute with the park district and the contractor. They put in ADA sidewalks, all new irrigation and reseeded all the fields. Everything looked great and done in March. By May huge portions of the grass have died so apparently the new irrigation system was not designed properly. No reason they can't just do the fireworks then fix the problem, but what do I know. No plans for the 4th. The 200th, I was in Moscow! This anniversary, at least I will be in the U.S.

Nada for us. We're in our late 50s and remember the 200th being a huge deal when we were kids. This one....not so much. We're taking a big trip to Kenya and departing mid-July, so we'll likely be pulling stuff together to pack. I'm sure there will be a ton of fireworks set off by individuals for that entire weekend, which will be hard on my little dog as well. So, we'll just be around making sure she's okay.

Same as every year.....but since we moved, much smaller.
Grilling burgers and dogs......always an ice cream bar.
Other things change. Corn on the cob water melon, chips....things like that.
Pool use and games,
When dark fireworks. We don't go anywhere.
Just the 7 of us (family) unlike when we lived in WA and had 50-100.

We almost always are in WDW, and that’s where we’ll be this year! We especially enjoy Voices of Liberty performances on 4th of July!

I'll be in Colonial Williamsburg for the 4th. Their evening entertainment and fireworks are being done in partnership with VA250. It's going to be bigger than anything they've done in the past. Both PBS and CSPAN are going to be airing America Made in Virginia: 250 Years Together.

We're at the POLY each July 4th week with our family of 12. However, this year we moved that week back a couple of weeks. This year we'll be in Washington D.C. to celebrate our 250th!

My DD22 and her BF will be at our house, and I’m really praying for nice hot day so we can hang out in the pool and then I’m making shish kebabs for dinner.

DH will be out of the country, I don't have any plans for July 4. This weekend our town has several tall ships to tour, an outdoor jazz fest, and fireworks Saturday night, we will probably go to that. We will also have fireworks on July 11th to celebrate the city's birthday.

We’ll be at our lake house hanging out with our neighbors, like usual. Hoping that some of the neighbors don’t launch as many fireworks as previous years. It really makes our dog miserable.

Yard work. Anyone local to RI want to help me figure out how to create a pyramid waterfall like the Dig Site at Coronado Springs?

I’ve asked my son what he wanted to do and he said nothing. We lived two streets over from the PawSox (minor league baseball) for 10 years and experienced 100’s of nights of fireworks, so we are pretty done with fireworks. Plus our pups are not fans.

I will be embarking the Celebrity Apex in Southampton, England for a cruise to the Norwegian Fjords.

Spent the 200th in Philadelphia historic area. Was just looking at some slides from it, the parade and all. Was the perfect place to be! that year.

This year I will be at home, having just returned from WDW the 3rd. Likely just doing my laundry and getting ready for my garage sale. No interest in celebrating anything.

We also remember the excitement of the bicentennial. It was more like a year of celebration. We have no plans this year.
