This day is extremely hazy! My notes are non exsistant, and I got very few pictures (besides the food.) Some of this is purely speculation, and I wish I could remember more.
Apparently, we had a early lunch/late breakfast today. Since we had such a late night last night, this is believable.
We woke up and debated where to go, and we finally decided to just go with our plans and have a day at DTD ending with Cap N' Jacks.
We were pretty hungry and it was right at that time between breakfast and lunch. So our food is going to differ slightly. My dad wanted breakfast so he went in that direction, but my mom and I weren't groovin' that way. We wanted some real food and the only station that was open was 'italian' so that's what we o'pted for.
Apparently I got a pizza because that's my old cell phone in the background. I have a fuzzy memory of this, so I s'pose it's true. W/ a chocolate crossaint.
I
know lots of people despise the stuff, but it was alright. Nothing delicious like you can get from your local pizza joint, but it wasn't despicable. It was good, as long as you're not being too picky about things. Do I even need to review that delicious crossaint anymore?
My mom got the parmesan crusted chicken with penna and alfredo. W/ a cinnamon roll.
Mmm, the chicken was even better now that it had cheesy goodness all over it! This is one of the things that really surprised me all trip. A huge, juicy
real chicken peice. The sauce was good and very parmesan-y. The breadstick was useless carbs. But the cinnamon roll wasn't! I've had much better but it was good as far as cinnamon rolls go.
My dad is a real breakfast kinda person. He got the pancake platter.
He says they taste like those frozen pancakes (they probably are). I'm guessing more useless carbs again. The bacon looks raw.
Anyways after that we headed off to play in Disney Quest for a bit. It left a lot to be desired in our opinion, but none of us our real big video game players. We decided to have a snack while we were there though. Mmm, Cheesecake Factory!
I had a big honkin' peice of vanilla bean cheesecake. It had lots of whipped cream on it that was dotted with goegeous vanillabean speckles. Probably the best peice of cheesecake I've ever had. The cheesecake part was dense and creamy which paired well with the light and fluffy cream. It was HUGE though so I could only eat around half. I know I have pictures somewhere but I can't find them.
My dad got an apple crisp thing which he said wasn't very good. Cold and kind of stale.
My mom didn't want dessert so she o'pted for cheese fries instead.
In my opinion the cheese on them wasn't as good as Disney's but they were still good. I mean, what can be wrong with cheesefries? Except the ginourmous amount of calories, of course.
All in all, will we be back? Since we're buying annual passes that won't come with admission to DQ, then I'll say no. The CheeseCake Factory isn't worth paying extra to get admission to, and we just didn't enjoy DQ that much. I really wish we had one of these restaurants around us though!
After that we decided we were done with DQ and headed over to the Marketplace instead. We just got there when my mom decided she needed to use the bathroom so she ran off that way and we sat on a bench. I looked around the pearl stand decided that I just had to have one and would tell my mom about it when she got back. Well...she didn't.
She was taking quite a long time so I went searching for her. I found her at the DVC booth of all places! (Note: We had passed these booths during the whole trip and she never batted an eye as she walked by them.) I was excited because I was very interested in buying DVC. She seemed very interested and the guy was setting up our little DVC sales pitch. We rode over on our 'special transportation' (aka a golfcart.) to the SSR and enjoyed our little meeting with the DVC sales associate. I personally love the plan and think the rooms are gorgeous but my mom... She thinks we should wait or just keep staying at other resorts. Oh well, we did enjoy those free fastpasses for the next couple days though.
Anyways after we finally got done with that it was time for our ADR. Unfortunately, it started pouring right as we got back to the Marketplace and we had to make a mad dash towards Cap N' Jacks without injuring ourselves in anyway. Thankfully we made it, untouched, except for the damage from a few raindrops.
We checked in and didn't wait 2 minutes before they were ready and leading us back to our table. We got a really nice table in front of a huge window so we got to people watch while waiting on our food. Speaking of food...
I ordered the crab cakes as the appetizer.
These were good. Lots of crab and the sauce went with it beautifully. I'm not a big slaw eater but that part was pretty good too, slightly sweet.
My mom got the shrimp cocktail.
The presentation was lacking, but I guess how many ways can you dress up cold shrimp and cocktail sauce? Anyways, she thought it was good. We're all big shrimp lovers.
My dad got clam chowdaaaa.
This was good! I remember tasting it, it was yummy. My mom even liked it and she's not a clam chowder fan.
As for entrees, my mom wasn't hungry so she ordered knowing she'd just give her lobster to my dad and eat a couple bites of my pasta and the sides.
I ordered the shrimp pasta with lobster sauce.
The shrimp were lukewarm and tasteless. The sauce was full of flavor, just not good flavor. I can't pinpoint what it was, but it just wasn't tasty. I ate the shrimp, two bites of the pasta and left it at that. My mom felt the same way.
So my dad was left with four lobster tails...
He said they were wonderful! I'm not a lobster expert so I can't tell you, but they did taste like what I thought lobster should taste like. He ate all four with no qualms.
I got the cheesecake with berry drizzle for dessert.
Okay okay, I know I already had cheesecake once today. But by then I was regretting not eating the whole peice earlier because I was still in a cheesecake mood. This was delish. The berry sauce was super sweet, but I still thought it was yum. Even though I'm not a fan of cooked fruit things. The cheesecake had a great texture, it was more fluffy than dense and creamy.
My mom got the chocolate cake.
She liked it but it was nothing amazing. Just chocolate cake and icecream.
My dad ordered the key lime pie.
This was much better than the one at Flame Tree and my mom even sorta kinda liked it. But of course it was tart so I didn't try it. I despise sour/tart/bitter things and always have. I was always the kid at school who didn't want to eat her friends sour gummy worms.
Haha, I just realized something. Looks like that berry sauce has a lot of different uses.
Our server was an older lady if I remember correctly. She was attentive, but not memorable. I actually can't remember much about her at all, so she must not have been overly impressive or disasterous.
All in all, will we be back? Yep. Me and my mom weren't thoroughly impressed but my dad loved it so we're going just for him. I won't tell people not to go here, but I'm not going to suggest it either. I hope the ones of you debating on this restaurant can decide on how your family would like it from my reviews. I know everyone's tastes are different.
We didn't do much afterwards, just roamed the shops a little. Actually, I vaguely remember us eating again. But I have no notes, no pictures, no proof of it. And if we did, it was just at the good ol' foodcourt. Nothin' my faithful readers haven't heard reviewed before.
Coming up next...Le Cellier and the French Bakery! Will they live up to the high standards of the DIS? Will they offend us and fail miserably? Well, you'll just have to wait and seeee.
