How warm are Uggs?

For Christmas I got my first pair of Uggs. I've only worn them once so far and that was just for a couple of hours, inside mainly. They are slightly snug, because the sales lady told me to buy them snug since they would stretch with time.

I'm going to the Cincinnati Bengals game this Saturday and it is going to be VERY cold. I was thinking I would wear my Uggs because I figured they will be warm. The only problem is I can't wear heavy socks with them yet because they are still too snug.

People who have Uggs, are they really warm. Do you think I will be good with them and a thin pair of socks for sitting out in temps in the upper teens (it's on the river, so there will probably be a bit of wind). Or should I think of something else.

I do think we are going to get some of those hand warmer things, so I could always put one of them in the boots too.

my uggs extremely warm.. I would go for it
I am so toasty in them
but I have never been to an outside event for several hours with them either
so I defer to others

UGGS are very warm and I would highly recommend wearing them - without the socks..I have worn them on very cold days and my feet were the only thing that stayed warm....good luck

I have the LLBean brand of Ugg type boots. I bought them to wear to college football games because DS is in the marching band. Someone told me to wear them without socks so that is what I do. My feet stay warm during games. I wish I had known about this when my kids were in high school marching band.;)

I have Emus (I'm too cheap for the real things) this year and they are super warm! In the past I've had even faker Uggs (30$ pair from Costco) that were super warm as well. I live in Pittsburgh and I went to a Steeler game last year (stadium right at the point of the three rivers so lots of wind and rain and just plain out ickiness) wearing my Costco "Uggs" and no socks and my feet were the only part of me that was warm.

My Uggs are the warmest shoes I have ever had. My feet are always cold, and these are the only shoes that keep them warm. I would not hesitate to wear them to an outside event! :thumbsup2

Don't wear socks with your uggs or your feet will freeze! Wear them barefoot!! I made this mistake the first time I bought uggs and my feet were about to fall off from being so cold!

I agree with these 2 posters.:thumbsup2

Thanks for the input. The first time I wore them I didn't wear socks, but I wasn't sure for the outside event.

But it's settled, I'm wearing my Uggs with no socks. Thanks!! Now if I can just figure out a way to keep my face warm.

I have 3 pairs of UGG's have worn them for multiple hours outside, now I don't know if the sales rep didn't mention it but you aren't supposed to wear socks with them, thats the beauty of UGG's they are warm but breathe, trust me my feet normally sweat crazily but not a bit in the UGG's, also I would definatley reccomend water proofing them but make sure you get the right spray, read the label on the inside to see what material they are made from and you can probably get it at walmart, it usually takes 24 hours for the UGGs to dry after spraying also.

Can't help you with keeping your face warm but definitely wear the Uggs without socks. They keep my feet plenty warm. I wear them whenever it is cold out. :thumbsup2

I am glad I read this thread, I had no idea you weren't supposed to wear socks with the Uggs. I too got my first pair this Christmas!

Ok, I have never had Uggs, so I don't completely understand why you don't wear socks. Please fill me in!:confused3

Ya'll are really making me think that I should buy a pair of UGGS. I don't know that I particularly like them but I cannot keep my feet and hands warm and anything that I don't wear socks is a big plus. Don't they get funky inside though? Can you wash them? What about when they get wet? They don't look waterproof?

The sheepskin is naturally moisture-wicking, which keeps your feet from sweating. I always wear mine without socks. They are the warmest, most comfortable shoes I've ever worn.

They are soooooooo toasty warm and extremely comfortable......another one here who wears them without socks! I've had mine 3 years and LOVE them!

When I went to figure out what size I should wear (and they run very big, so you go atleast a size smaller) the saleslady told me not to wear them with socks. I kind of wandered about how they would smell after a while too. I got a little kit with them, it has a waterproofer and refresher in it, so maybe the refresher helps keep them a little fresher smelling.

But I'd love someone's input who has had them for a while about any odor issues.

I'm like you though Tina, my feet and hands are always cold. I think it is hereditary, because my mom was always the same way.

Like I said, I've only had the cheap Uggs until this year when I bought the Emus, which are like a half step below the Uggs. They've never lasted me more than a season. I wear them every day, though, and they fall apart. They have never gotten nasty on me. If you spray the waterproofing spray on them they're fine. My aunt (who has had several pairs of the real Uggs) told me to wear socks with them every once in a while and that will help keep the "ickiness' inside down. Whether that actually helps or not, I couldn't tell you.

I am always cold from like October to April. I'm never warm, not even in my house, car, school, work, etc. I'm actually freezing right now in my house. When I wear my Uggs (and I wear them from the first time it snows, everyday until all the snow melts and the only time I don't wear them is when I work. On days that I work, i wear them out to my car, change into my work shoes when I pull into the parking lot, then put my Uggs back on before I pull out of the parking lot after work) my feet are ALWAYS warm. I also have slip-on Ugg style shoes that I wear from the time that it is too cold for flip-flops to the first snow fall (I could really live with only 4 pairs of shoes: a pair of Old Navy flip flops, my slip-on Ugg style shoes, my "Uggs", and my work tennis shoes). They are super comfy and super warm, too and have never gotten nasty on me. And those last me a couple years (I do get a new color every year, though)

They are very warm...without socks.

You are very brave for going to the Bengals game. My boyfriend is going and I think he's crazy for going through temps in the TEENS!!!
