How valuable is the express/FOTL pass 1st week in March?

We are heading to FL for a shuttle launch end of Feb/1st week of March. We are looking to do 2 days at US/IOA. I had planned to stay in Cocoa Beach for half the week and then stay at a Universal resort for the last 3 nights so we could get the FOTL pass. I just noticed that our Cocoa Beach hotel reservation has a 7 night minimum so if we stay there we'd have to drive in to Universal for our park days. How bad will it be those days not having the FOTL pass? We are WDW veterans but new to Universal. The WDW crowd calendar is showing 3-4's for that week so I am guessing the crowds would be similar at US? IS the FOTL even needed?

The other alternative is to stay at the Universal resort for the full week and drive to KSC/Cocoa Beach for that stuff.

Hi!

I'll be there the same time but hopefully getting tickets to watch the launch on the NASA causeway, but more importantly I was there March last year so I have a rough idea how it will go.

Last year it was wasn't too busy but as it was a "landmark" birthday we decided to spend a couple of days at the Hard Rock Hotel.

Well, the Hard Rock was great, but the FOTL access was what blew us away. Even with the light crowds we managed to ride the Mummy 3 times, where we would have only been able to ride once in the regular line.

So is is needed in late Feb early March, no. Would it make a difference, most definately yes.
