~How TWO trips became...who knows? ~ It's a TRIP! and an upgrade.... 4/22

Maroo Hope you are feeling better and are going back to work this morning :wizard:

Hey guys!

Sorry so long since an update.

I have been in a funk for the past day or so...and not really DISing much.

I have missed so much work that I am not going to be able to do the trip I was imagining in December. So...now I gotta figure out how to spend the few vacation days I have left this year.

So...for now...this pre-trippie is pretty far up in the air. I know I will be doing something in December...just not sure what that looks like now?

Hi Maroo,

Just came by to say hello. So sorry you've been sick and that your December trip isn't working out. How disappointing for you. :sad2: Hoping that something good for December will come of all this.

NICHOLE!!!

I just screamed your name in real life...so I figured I could do it here.

Here is a huge cyber hug!

:grouphug:

I saw the pics of your precious puppy. :cloud9:

I hope you guys are doing ok.

Your post alone reminds me to not sweat these little things.

And have you seen Lucas' Steam Train Trip Report yet?

Warning...you will need tissues...so you may want to skip it for now...but his wish was granted in the most magical way. :cloud9:

Ok...

This is what I am thinking.

First...I am definitely going with Rachel's family on the last part of this vacation. It will use at least 2.5 days and I have three left. So...that part of the trip is safe! :dance3:

Now...I just need to decide what to do about the DAP portion. Which...technically means this title should change to how TWO trips became FOUR...But I digress. :faint:

It is a complex problem.

I COULD:
Fly out on Friday around noon and fly back on Sunday around 6:00 PM.
If I did this...I would be able to participate in the following activities - without going into too much detail:

MVMCP on Friday evening
Jellyrolls on Friday evening with All About the Mouse Podcast team.
Back to room around 1AM.

Volunteer at GKTW from 8:00 AM (which will mean leaving the resort by 7:30 at the very latest)
Rest a couple of hours at the room
To Epcot for Kim Possible meet with All About the Mouse Podcast team
To Yehaw Bob meet with WDW Today Podcast Team
To Toy Story party with the DIS Podcast Team (if I can get tickets)
back to room around 1AM or later

9:00 AM MK - Very Special Trip to Harmony Barber Shop *see below*
11:00 AM MK - Disney Pyramid game with All About the Mouse Podcast team
Hang out at MK until 3:30 - then to airport to return car (I will have to have a car to pull this off)

The Harmony Barber Shop thing is hard to explain...But basically the guys from All About the Mouse have been helping raise money for GKTW and it was my idea for the host, Bryan, to get his hair done at Harmony Barber Shop (with color and pixie dust) to benefit GKTW. To date they have raised over $1100 to support this cause. And have challenged ME to get MY hair done, too...if they can reach $2000 - which I have no doubt they will. And I have said I WILL do this. :( I don't want to let them down, too. :(

If I miss that weekend...then I miss this event altogether. :(

Money doesn't grow on trees...and this is going to cost me about $1000 to be there for two crazy, long, but good, days.

I am trying to decide if it is worth it?? Should I just make a donation to GKTW instead? And stay home? And maybe use that third day to get an earlier flight out for Rachel's trip?

Decisions. Decisions
.

Oh Maroo, I feel for you having to change plans due to being sick and no time off. I have been so sick this past year with sinus migranes that I now have "ONE" extra day for anything that could come up between now and the marathon in Jaunary.

How about a little :wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard: to help.

Yikes, I don't know what to tell you! :confused3

Missing the GKTW event would be such a bummer... but you're right about the need for financial responsibility.

Of course, I'm the one who spent the better part of Labor Day Weekend trying to convince DStepson to take a break from college and meet us in WDW for the MNSSHP Halloween night...

Ed says, "That's too much money to spend for just one day!"

Oh, poops! We're talking about Disney, here, people!

Kathy

You have to go - :yay:

wait you have to be financially responsible..:snooty:

oh but GKTW is so worthy - you need to fill up your tank with the love..

wait, you've been sick :ssst:

oh wait, how much is it going to cost? :earseek: :scared1:

:confused3 Dont ask me what to do!!:sad2:

You sound like me!

It isn't the DIS Podcast team.... It is the All About the Mouse Podcast team! :)

Actually...really just the host.

What to do...what to do?? :confused3

By the way...

I bought a treadmill...and am entertaining going in January instead? :rolleyes1 Since my vaca starts over....

Or maybe March for the Princess Half?

Which would TOTALLY blow a "bet" I had with that's nice to stay home in Jan, Feb and March. :rolleyes1

Maroo,
I'm sorry about this whole situation. I have to get ready for work but I'll post later with some thoughts... If you were there for the Princess 1/2 we will be there too. (I think it's the 1st weekend in March):confused3

I hope you are felling better.

I think she should do the Disney Half - she's already mentally thought about it! :rolleyes1 I'm pretty sure we talked about a meet at Crystal Palace for one day!! :rolleyes1

(Oh and while we are on me hijacking this trip report :rolleyes1 Rumor has it Crystal Palace will close in Jan for refurbishment - but LTT area will host the morning breakfast :confused3 this is just a rumor... based on me trying to figure out if the switch to 180 days will start Sept 27th, not Oct 27th - just heads up - be ready people!!)

(or be lucky like Maroo :wizard:)

If you are serious about the Half in Jan - you need to sign up with Team in Training - I dont think the GKTW Fundraiser got off the ground... the other plain spots for the Half I believe are full - I'll research it...

If you go to the Princess - its not as big - and its in March - but I havent researched it at all!!

Aww, I'm so sorry that you've been so sick and are having to redo plans. I have no great advice other than to hang in there and have faith. Things do work out.

I hear you on the expensive, but great 2 days. Only you can answer that. It does sound like an awfully rewarding agenda!

Personally, I'd skip Jan. No crowds but leftover holiday decorations and refurb's, short park hours, etc. The princess though... A great think to work towards!

I guess I need to research the Team in Training Team...

:confused3

Hmm....

I have way to many things to think about. popcorn::

OK Maroo.... here are some ideas...

1) Can you 'borrow' days from next year?

2) Do you have any holiday days you can use?

3) Do you have to use your vaca days this year or can they carry over?

4) :confused::confused::confused::confused:

You probably thought about all this but it is worth a try! :surfweb:

I don't know what to tell you to do!

If you can swing the money, I would go for the weekend and then go back for Rachel's trip. Are you sure there isn't any way they would let you take that extra day? Maybe if you explain about the fundraising for GKTW and that you will be helping Rachel they would understand?

Good luck deciding! I also don't have any advice for the marathons. Just make sure you are saving plenty of days for the TC3 trip! I don't want to follow a PTR for over a year and then have the trip not happen! ;) We went in January before and did enjoy it but there are a lot of refurbs and there were a lot of tour groups.

I with Jen I do not know what to advise you on. Hey I am the one trying to convience her husband that singing on stage at Carnegie Hall in New York City is not that special. Wouldn't you like to go see Mickey again? You know it is only Carnegie Hall. You have a picture with the sign. Mickey is calling our name.

eek! Well.... Looks like I might be joining you in January instead! :thumbsup2

He didn't want to fly down for one night? :) I will be glad to come in his spot! ;)

What?!? CP Closed?? That stinks!

You are right about the GKTW fundraiser. Looks like it bit the dust.

But....check out my latest update.

Faith had a HUGE place in my decision! :thumbsup2

Don't ask me - I'm using next year's vacation for DAP! :rotfl2:

Well...I am going to completely miss DAP...more on that in a sec.

OK Maroo.... here are some ideas...

Can't borrow. We have several holidays...but you have to use those on the holiday...since we are closed.

I think we can carry over one day? Maybe? It won't matter...I am using mine slap up!

But...never fear. I have figured out what to do!

I am definitely saving lots of days for the TC3 trip!

Hopefully we will have some limited refurbs...and at least Space Mountain will be open! :)

LOL

Aw...

You guys will get to go back! If you really want to...we can keep our eyes peeled for some good deals!

Maroo - have you talked to your boss? Do they know of your dilemma? You feel you have promised the fundraiser your presence, but your job is a priority, if you hadnt gotten the swine flu - where would you be? You want to make sure you have a job to return to!! Communication is important!

Good Luck! :wizard:

hah - we posted at the same time!!
