Well...
Turns out some decisions are a lot easier than they appear. Especially when there are huge pieces of information that we are missing.
In this example...I am glad this all happened...even that I got the flu. Because I am not sure I would have realized what all I would be missing the weekend I was gone. Having to make this decision caused me to really investigate what I would miss that weekend.
We have a Christmas program at our church. It is called Best Gift. I go to a large church and our Christmas program is not just a small program...it is several hundred people in a large choir, live music, drama, dance, INCREDIBLE worship and an incredible youth portion with the full youth choir. We have to have 5 performances over one weekend to fit all of the people that come to see it (for free, of course!) (in a 2500 seat auditorium)...so it is a big deal!
I was IN Best Gift in 2005. Then they did it "on the road" in 2006 - and went to some areas torn up by Katrina. In 2007 Lauren got to be in it. We covered her wheelchair in blue LED lights that turned on and off and she was one of the stars of the show when she went out on stage with the "Blue Men Group" and "danced" in the pitch black with just her wheelchair outlined. She got a standing ovation. It was awesome.
It was VERY cool, if I don't say so myself!
In 2008 - it was again an "on the road" event.
So...now we are in 2009. And THAT weekend is THE weekend. Of the program.
And Lauren is a Junior. Which means...it is her last time to be in it. As they now do it every other year...one year at the church and the next "on the road"...
Which I can't miss. For anything. Disney. DAP. Even Harmony Barber Shop.
SO...I am happy to say...I am staying home for DAP so I can help with Best Gift and see Lauren perform!
I also talked to Rachel and her Mom last night. We had a great dinner at Outback Steakhouse! YUM!
Since I am not going to DAP - I now have three full days I can take off for our trip. So we are all going to leave on the same day...which means I get to just ride with them to Disney! I am so excited about that!
So...I can save my money....for my next adventure..........
Which...maybe I should start a new pre-trippie for...but I know I won't be able to keep up...so...let's just talk about it ... informally ... for a second.
I talked earlier this year about doing the Half Marathon. I got excited about it. I lost some weight. Then... I don't know what happened! But I lost my spunk. And got off track.
And ... Let's just say...I was...shocked. Stunned. Amazed. HORRIFIED. When I stood on the scale at the doctor's office.
So...I gotta get back on the wagon!
Since I saving all of this money for DAP (and even my Rachel trip)...I bought a treadmill yesterday.
It is new. My old one was broken. I know me. I know that I am MUCH more likely to walk on my own treadmill than most anything else.
I went to a Team in Training walking training session very early this morning! They are all very nice. I walked 4 miles. From 0 to 4 miles...probably not a great idea. But I was excited to get started and I am behind on their training.
I have major blisters. Which I need to fix. But other than that....I am game.
To train.
For the Half.
In January!!!!!!
Whatcha think?
