How tough to get Grand Villa at OKW?

Hi!

I've never reserved a Grand Villa before. We own at OKW so we can book 11 months in advance. Is it really tough to get a Grand Villa? I've always been nervous about it! We plan to go next November, the Tuesday before Thanksgiving until the Tuesday after. Do I have to wait until 11 months before the LAST day of the reservation to book or can I do it the FIRST day of the reservation? PLEASE HELP! Kathy

That's a very busy week. I'd plan on booking right at the 11 month window.

We own at OKW and booked a grand villa for the end of August this year - I think we booked it in the November before and had no trouble.

Have to say that the grand villa was wonderful - the double height sitting room area gave a fantastic feeling of space and airyness.

You will call 11 months before your check-in day. Under the new reservation policy you'll be able to make the entire reservation on that day since you are staying exactly a week.

Thanks for the replies. I knew they had changed the booking guidelines and it was unclear in the membership book. I was hoping I could book for my first night and not he last. I wil call to find out the EXACT date I can call to book the GV. I know it doesn't always coincide with the calendar! Thanks again. WE LOVE OKW! We've been members since 1995 but have never stayed in a Grand Villa.

We just came back. We had a 2 BR and a 1BR but were wait listed for a Grand Villa up until 2 days before we left---when we got the call---we got it. A big group was forced to cancel. Never give up hope! The GV is great lots and lots of room!!!!

I'm pretty sure if you are on the phone at the 11 month mark at 9AM, you'll get one.

I just booked one last week for May 17, 2009 for a week and had no problem what so ever. Maybe I was just lucky!!!

I've been on a wait list for the GV for Oct 25. I called to waitlist it at exactly 7 months and nothing yet. Waaahhh. I have my 2br and 1br reserved though.

What do you mean you got the call 2 days beforehand? I thought there was no wait list the last 7 days. MS told me to call day by day at that point and just ask if it's become available.

I got one in Feb and booked in 7 months out. No problem

Since you are planning on a VERY busy DVC reservation time (Thanksgiving week). I would call right at 9 AM on December 24th of this year to book the entire trip in one call. The problem is trying to book ON a holiday for another holiday! The Tuesday before Thanksgiving is Nov. 24, 2009, so that's why you call Dec. 24 2008. Unfortunately, in that busy time, you STILL might have to waitlist, since many will be booking from Saturday the 21 or Sunday the 22. If, with the new booking policy all 27 GVs are reserved from Saturday or Sunday, you could be out of luck even at the 11 month window. It's one of the reasons I don't think the new booking system is fair. GOod luck to you though! Maybe you can give yourself a Christmas present early on Christmas Eve day this year!

I think it is one of those situations where if is a must have reservation with it starting on Tuesday the only way to be sure is to walk a reservation into your dates from the week before.
