We're taking the whole family down next February and were booking at our home resort (SSR) - but looking over the points breakdown the "cost" of a grand villa at OKW will be close to the cost of a 2 bed plus studio at SSR. What are our chances of our getting the change at the 7-month window. Do these fill up fast? We have 8 adults and 2 kids going so we definitely need as much space as possible.
Any thoughts appreciated!

They do fill up fast, especially during a busy time of year like February. I'd suggest making your otriginal plans then trying to switch at 7 months. You could even wait list for it.

Some members have reported getting a GV at 7 months or less but it is not easy to do.

Thanks! That's what I planned to do. Fingers crossed for OKW (although we'll still be going to SSR even if OKW falls through so we won't end up being too disappointed if we don't get the GV) We're there from 2/11 - 2/17 so we were hoping to beat the crowds from Pres week.

I just tried booking a GV at OKW during October, a usually slower month, at the seven month mark and there were none available. Fortunatly I was able to book a two bedroom for more nights. I could of booked at SSR though but for many more points. Try booking at SSR and waitilisting at OKW.

Last week I tried booking a GV at OKW for Oct 28-Nov 4. The 29th and 30th were not available, so I booked the GV for the rest of the stay and two 1 bedrooms for the 29th and 30th. I waitlisted day-by-day for those 2 nights. I hope they come through. I'd hate to move twice during our stay!

If you are going early February, you might have a fair chance, but not if you will be traveling for the week of President's Day. The waitlist would be the way to go so you can fall back on your SSR booking if it doesn't happen.

I've booked SSR - so we are all set there. As far as a waitlist goes - do I call at the 7month window for our first day and call in every day to book one day at a time? Will they automatically waitlist us if the GV is already booked? This is our first DVC booking so we're learning as we go here!

You can book day by day like that forn the waitlist, but then you have to be prepared for possibly getting some but not all of your days consecutively. You can also waitlist for the whole time as well.

FWIW,

We're waitlisted for an OKW GV for October. But if we don't get it, we have ressies there for a 2-br plus a studio. Either way will be fine for us. We're just looking forward to MNSSHP!
