How to watch for discounts after making reservation?

Haven't been to Universal in ages....and have never stayed onsite. I will make a HRH room reservation for February 2020 (type of room important to me) but want to adjust the reservation to save money down the road if at all possible. Would any price changes be part of discounts released by Universal and I just need to monitor their website for deals I may be able to apply? Or do I need to be checking Loews for general rate changes?? Do I call the hotel periodically and inquire?? Any advice or historical data appreciated!

1. Check online, daily if able

2. Follow the APH rate thread here. May find that upgrading one ticket to an APH is cost effective for the room’s pricing and other discounts

3. Look at both this year’s rate thread & 2020 (not yet up) for what others have found for you dates
