Hi Everyone,
A couple of years ago I got a long awaited DSLR. Long story short. I took a photography class about 35 years ago in high school. Unfortunately, I don't remember much, and I have found the DSLR seems more complicated. Seems no matter what I do, it goes back to automatic focus.
Anyway, my question is what online, or book explains DSLR's very simply. As if teaching a child. I now have slight memory issues. Meaning I have to do as I read, then reread and do again. Then try to do without reading, then go to the next step. It is a long process, and I am defiantly more of a hands on learning.

You just have to practice a lot and then it sort of becomes instinctual, IME. I bet a lot of it will come back to you as you move forward, also. Some cameras have "Dummies" books that can be helpful in addition to what's been mentioned. Which camera did you buy?
